I liked that. I had a CD of his, but years ago only choose two songs to rip to my digital library.

Since Covid I like to listen through albums again, and I've gone back & ripped the rest of a few old CDs. Might have to see if he's a complete album guy for me now, or like Leonard Cohen, can write great songs, but doesn't have many I want to hear.

Speaking of which if I were picking Cohen lyrics for this thread it would be from Everybody Knows:

I feel about Cohen the same as Bob Dylan. All his songs are performed better by other musicians. Pretty much ANY other musicians.

My favorite rendition of Everybody Knows is from Concrete Blonde. Johnette Napolitano's voice is perfect for it.

Sounds familiar. I'll check it out.

I have a long playlist of cover songs & a separate list of Dylan songs & covers. I left the originals in that one, because there are only 2. And only because I hadn't found a cover version when I got them.

I don't think I've bought a Dylan album since Desire was new.

Cohen's musical compositions and his combination of 80's, jazz and choirs aren't for everyone. But is voice is absolutely irreplaceable.

That said, I do love the cover of Avalanche by Murder by Death. Adam Turla manages to channel the sounds of both a younger and elder Cohen.
