Grippy tire for Lightweight bike?

Running Michelin Power RS on the 701 and they're awesome tires

Power rs are fantastic, but maybe better for dry weather-Pirelli dr 3 better all around .Q3+ are made in smaller sizes now.might be fun.

Michelin Supermoto slicks*. They will grip like nothing else for at least a thousand miles or so, until they're worn out.

*Michelin calls them slicks, even though they have tread grooves. Don't ask my why- I couldn't tell you.

I feel compelled based on over a decade of real world experience to chime in here and say:
1) Pilot Powers are not a "fantastic" tire, unless all you do is putt around. They only have enough grip to commute on. Run them on multiple bikes, original, 2ct, power 3s. None had any serious grip or instilled any kind of confidence for major lean angles (I run ~30psi street). Took them to the track eons ago and even at 28/28psi they still wouldn't ball up like a sticky tire should.
2) Pilot Roads are also crap. The tread scallops as you put miles on them. Still work ok, but don't exactly bode well for the long term.

Proof in the pudding:
Road 4s on the ZX10--1" chicken strips.
S21s on the R1--worn to the mufuggin edges, yo!

And the ZX handles better.

Full disclosure: I happen to have a 160/60R17 S21 I'll be taking off my bike this week. Has less than 1000 miles on it, like new. I'll give OP or whoever a screaming deal on it. (It rubs on my chain on the supermoto, so going down one size.)

Best cold weather, wet weather tire I have used, but rear only lasted about 1500 miles -on my fz10.probably better on 690.

Also, as far as tires working on lighter weight bikes, fyi I ran the Metz. Roadtecs on a 450lb 600, worked tits.

Ran the M7RR on the 330lb super moto, hated life. No grip when cold. As I said, switched to S21s, life is good again.

My 701 came stock with Conti Attack SM - they were blah, didnt like them at all.
Now have Avon AV54 Trail riders couldn't be happier with them and you can do fire trails and light dirt with them too. So far did 2 track days on them. Very quick warm up, they look beautiful and I expect them to last a while.

not sure if they make them for 690 but really dig the Metzeler M7RRs - really sticky - still get about 4k miles of wear on them. STR is 414lbs though so as others have said - maybe not as good for the lighter 690

Have used power rs,alpha 13's,supercorsas,dr3's on R3's and ktm rc390,s20's and dr2's on ninja 250's.i kind of liked continental sport attack 3's on a fz07.they had decent grip and good bump absorption.I have s21's on a 2017 ninja 650 and they are ok,power RS best for dry road, supercorsas best for track, and dr3 best all around.

The new Pirelli Rosso Corsa II is an excellent track and street tire. They're amazingly grippy out of the gate. Forgiving in slides as well.

I do need forgiveness. ... if I have to get it from my tires, then so be it.

I have nothing but great things to say about the Pirelli Rosso III's. This video is from the last track day I did on them before stepping up to Supercorsas (my all time favorite DOT tire).

With the 701 I typically got 2500-4000 miles on them, depending on how much track riding I did. Super sticky on the sides, good longevity (for a track oriented tire) when commuting, and progressive feedback at the limits.

Certainly no tire drama there! Wheee!

By the way...I like your lines better than the rider you were following (black/white leathers).
