Group Buy: FastTags License Plate Retractor

d00d did you get a jobbyjob? thats a lot of cheddar for something you could make! :p

That'll retract with a flip of a switch? Oh wait I forgot, the rest of your Gix is put together with that to. :twofinger

The key word here is "Intent!" You have a device that sole purpose is to hide your required vehicle ID. This can be seen as criminal, not a fix it ticket! As for the cagers...when you drive by them everyday, they remember you and your bike, color, outfit, etc. As for the cameras, try to beat Motorola, when they see your new device. Good luck

Oh, almost forgot. Yes the police do read BARF. One of the Sheriff's at the Hayward Court House is a BARFer. Talked with him during the recent case there.

Well, ig the police read soemthing, that's all good and circumstantioal. my current major is admin of justice and no it's not illegal to own one of these. Your intent could be anything. it's impossible to proce. thanks.

Just pay the extra 20 bucks. Is all this worth the hassle? Id be over it.

Well, there's more boards that have interested people. If no one wants it, then leave it alone, if someone does, then tell me, but NO it is not illegal to own one of these and a cop can't use it against you if he pulls you over and your tags are down or up or whatever. :thumbup

While the concept sounds cool and all, it seems to me that in this day and age of harassing sportbikes and profiling their owners, an officer could/would use any little excuse to pop you. I've seen gung-ho cops fresh out of the academy pacing the lot across from Alice's, inspecting tags, tires and blinkers. All it takes is for one of them to notice something that looks a little out of place:

"Oh-ho, so what's this hinge on your plate frame? You don't happen to have some sort of James Bond setup here, do you?"

:laughing

Could be more trouble than it's worth in the long run. Just my $.02

Yeah, unfortunately everyone thinks they're illegal to have on your bike, which isn't true. The only thing they'd pop me for if i had one would be my integrated signals and flushmounts.

Drizz
Admin of justice MAJOR :p

let's see you build it ken. Hope you know how to use vacuum systems.

It sounds like you've done your research, Drizz, but I'd like to see the
California Vehicle Code section that says these are permissible. I can see
that it may only be an infraction with only a fix-it ticket and $10 fine. But
what specific vehicle code adresses specific display of license plates or lack of?

Don't mind me, I'm just a CVC junkie... :p
