GS500 build thread... cf tanks, internal supercharger, etc

The aft reed valve is temp mounted backwards, yes?

Nope. right direction

Why not use a different tail and single seat combo? There's got to be a lighter solution than that

Mount intercooler onto forks?

Not sure I've ever seen flexible charge piping that can move around as much as that would require.

Take notes from the Honda RC51 design? Mount it inside the side fairing vertically and use an old radiator and make air scoops?

There has to be something that will work.
What forces would it have to withstand? Temp and psi?

You could actually use radiator hose for the intercooler. Lots of older (and a couple newer) vehicles have done this.

Interesting. Might go with that as a last ditch effort. For now, I have the intercooler on the way and am thinking I'll put it somewhere on the side of the engine. Later, I can add a matching oil cooler on the opposite side of the bike and make a little fairing to cover/duct to them.

Have you given any thought to the charge accumulator? Perhaps some extruded aluminum fins on the tank, would also lower the charge temp in the accumulator as well ?

Depending on how short of intake piping I can make between the intercooler and the intake, the intercooler itself may act as the accumulator.

That's quite a bit of weight you could lose if you find a tail section.
What about the Ninja 250 tail?

honestly, there's really not much back there right now. The subframe has been shortened, unneeded supports have been removed, half the seat has been chopped down and replaced with a thin carbon fiber shell... Granted the corbin seat isn't the lightest, but that's all the weight that's back there right now.

still loving this thread :thumbup
