GTA IV

I don't know about midnight but I am going to be stopping by game stop some time today to see if I can still reserve one. I was wondering how long it would take for some one to post up about that game.
 
My friend is going to the midnight release, he might snag me a copy if he can and bring it to work tomorrow. Otherwise I'll just get it after work tomorrow. Not like you'll need a reserve, they are going to have a lot of copies of this game...

I'll probably pick up the game in a week or three, unless everyone here is like "OMFG its the Bees Knees, pick that shite up now." Then I'll GTFO out of my humble abode and pick it up.
 
i'll pick it up as soon as i can decide which system to buy it for, ps3 or 360 :|
 
i am, and i've NEVER done a midnight release for anything before.

the store left me a voicemail saying that they recommend i get there by 6pm to pay off the pre-order and make sure i can get the game ASAP after midnight. it takes 6 HOURS to do that? wtf. not sure what i'm going to do, but i'm definitely not hanging out at the game store for 6 hours.

are you sure? this game just got the best reviews of any game for probably the last decade. anyone who didn't want it before definitely wants it now.
 
Well just paid off the game at EB Hillsdale during lunch. I asked the guy working if "this was the line for the midnight release", he got a kick out of that. Also he mentioned that halo3 had something like 1000 preorders vs. GTA4, which only had 380 preorders (at this store anyway).
I feel so nerdy by going tonight, haven't done that before, but I want to play this game till I fall asleep tonight... :laughing And yes I am a GTA FANBOY :nerd :teeth

ohhh is that what they meant by the 6pm thing? if all i have to do is stop by and pay it off, then come back at midnight that's fine. if i had known it was going to be like this i would have paid it off when i made the pre-order in the first place.
 
I had the very, very first GTA ever. It was on Playstation 1.

You had an aerial view and the only thing worthwhile in that game, imo, is running around beating up people and stealing cars then taking them down and selling them to the docks.

I sold the game a few months after I bought it; although, I have never ever seen another copy of it. Apparently they were quite hard to come by because the amount of "bad words" they used.

I hate to break this to you guys... but I learned this the last time they released a big title on PS2 (may have even been GTA-SA).

If you pre-order something from Amazon, they actually ship it so that it arrives at your door on the day of the release.
You don't have to stand in any lines, put down a pre-order deposit... none of that crap. It's the best sales strategy ever. I buy all my pre-release stuff on there now.

I had the very first GTA on my PC. It was freakin awesome and fit on a floppy disk. (remember those?) I grabbed it when it was still in "beta" and kept getting updates from the developers up until the official release, which was version 1.2 or something like that. I would stay up all night jackin' cars and running down punk-ass bitches. :cool

it was also on PC. rockstar actually made GTA 1 and 2 available for FREE.

not necessarily. i pre-ordered guitar hero 3 from amazon under the assumption that it would be delivered the day of the release, but the release date came and it turned out they hadn't even SHIPPED it! and i pre-ordered over a month in advance!

i cancelled the order with amazon and picked up a copy at circuit city. that's the last time i use amazon.com for a pre-order.

+1 on amazon and +10000000000000 on the first GTA. we would network our computers and play 4 player matches.... remember that one bridge that was out in the middle? we would stack cars on either side, then when some one else was trying to jump it, they'd crash and go boom!
i can't wait, but i'm not going to get a copy at midnight. i'm tracking my package currently.


edit - damn, that sucks on the amazon. good to know.
