Hair cutting tools: Need recommendations

Oster 76's
Wahl Magic Clips + upgraded guards

I've had a few clients get restless and send me pics of them with their heads shaved.

I honestly don't see the big deal about letting your hair get a little longer than usual.

It's not that there's a problem with it per-say, but it does make my helmet more difficult to wear (1st world problem) and makes my appearance far less professional looking at work...also a 1st world problem, I suppose.

Thanks for the recommendations folks. I have put mineral oil on the clipper. But am seriously looking at them Wahl clippers even though I don't have the skillset. I feel like a newbie rider wanting to buy a Hayabusa as his first ride :(

I cut my own last weekend (what's left of it, anyway. My biggest challenge was how to trim the nape of my neck straight. Looking at my reflection (back of head) in the mirror and free-handing would not work well. I ended up using a strip of painter's tape, sticking the ends to both ears to ensure it was even. Worked very well!

:laughing

I've been using a clipper (#2 all over 1-2x per week) for years.

I've gone through a lot of them, and by far the best is the Andis T-Outliner. No comparison.

It comes with the standard assortment of combs, but you can use it bare to create a sharp line on the back, or even knock down the beard in lieu of shaving.

I used to get a high fade cleaned up every two weeks. Since that's not possible, I've been using my Wahl set to just clip short then shave with a razor every few weeks.

I'm now even learning how to use pet clippers and groom my dog's fur too.

So it is a month of at home and I am looking like a hobo. Tried using an old Connair clippers but find them gettin bogged down when they hit longer and denser part of scalp.

What good quality tools would the BARF collective recommend?

Don't give up on the ConAir. A couple decades ago I bought some for $15 in Texas when I was there racing and it was hot as hell and I was shaggy. Used these things for a long time and best spent $15 of my life. A couple key tips and I may repeat ones mentioned:

1) Keep clean. They come with a little brush with stiff bristles. If you can't find original an old toothbrush will work.

2) Keep oiled. Once you are done cutting and cleaning, oil the blades with a few drops (no more) and turn on to work in and put them away.

3) MOST IMPORTANTLY... adjust blade spacing. This is key especially if you have thicker hair. If you don't, they won't cut for shit. Keep a penny in your cutter box so it is always handy. I have an old arcade token in mine. There should be a large screw with a big slot on the side and while it is running, turn in small increments. You can audibly hear the buzz pitch change and after a bit of experimenting you can dial in to where it cuts amazing and consistently.

4) Go slow on deep cuts. If you are shaving melon or going down to #0 guard from full hair, go slow for first passes or swap out to taller guard.

Gotta love a product that tells you it sucks in it's slogan.:laughing
Kinda wonder why they didn't call it the "Suck Kit". Probly would've sold more.
Of course then the lawyers would've had to gotten involved with a disclaimer reminding not to use on penis.
Haircut while getting sucked They'd be lining up at the door! :rofl

I have a trimmer kit but you know what my dog grooming trimmer worked much better ROFL
