Ham Radio Operators

Just a couple of cheap Baos with some healthy 8w antennas. for now.

Once things with COVID are over and we can all get together again we can meet up and I'll bring my laptop and programming cables and we can set up a couple of your radios.

I'll bring the digital setup with me as well, been using that a lot the last couple of weeks.

Nice, sounds like a good time, we haven't shared some drinks in years!

I’m thinking about ordering a couple extra Baofeng UV5R to take apart and chrome plasti-dip. You know, for the haters. :laughing

Nice. Let me know if you would like to make some contacts. I should be able to hit an SF repeater or anything in Oakland/East Bay hills from my place.

Any repeaters you are looking at using and I can get a Chirp file going for my radio as well.

I also ordered myself an Anytone D878UV Plus the other day. 2m/70cm FM and DMR. Looking forward to it and it should make for a nice travel buddy when the world gets normal again.

We should all be able to hit W6CX on Mt. Diablo. Heck, I've hit that repeater with 5w on my mobile from half way down the San Juaquin valley.

No way, not me. I live in the bottom of a Valley. If I don't get on K6GWE, I don't get anywhere and am just doing local simplex comms.

Keep up the good work... when things come crashing down, we'll need you to get the word out. :thumbsup

barf ham meet, I should get my license current...

I got so sick of dealing with Prolific and FT232 drivers. Has that mess been sorted out or does it break with every other Win10 update now? I'd have to dust off the old XP laptop whenever I wanted to change something.

This guy has a good guide on how to get all the drivers working.

I haven't had an issue using my Win10 Microsoft Surface.

My new DMR radio arrived today. Programmed it up and made a couple of DMR and FM repeater contacts.

Anyone else on Brandmeister DMR? Any good talkgroups?

Anyone do Parks on the Air (POTA)? It looks like fun, but I am going to have to save up some coin if I want to do it after lockdown. I added up what it would cost to replicate this guys kit and is like $1200-$1500 :laughing

I went out and did a SOTA (summits on the air) activation on Chabot 2 Benchmark in Lake Chabot Park this morning. That was pretty fun.
