No, it will actually be electric. It is going to be a huge cluster of below. And even though they say leakproof they will leak battery acid everywhere, and it will sound like a very loud electric hum from an old tube amp. Harley will patent that hum.

And convince poorley educated, old, fat guys to buy it even though it's slower, less dependable, yet three times more expensive.

If this is legit, I applaud H-D. It is with minimal snark that I say that I'm stoked that they are finally going to have a bike containing technology that was developed after 1975. Maybe this is a sign that they are going to become more innovative? Let's hope so. I'm tired of our only major motorcycle brand being a laughing stock among 90% of riders.

Hey, that's not fair! Not all poorley educated old fat guys ride Harleys!

The V-Rod had technology newer than that. The new 500 and 750 Street models have newer technology. :nerd

That doesn't mean that they make anything that I want to own, but I think they're trying (somewhat).

Quoted for hilarity. So...how old and large are you and what type of bike do you ride? We already answered the education question. :rofl

I sincerely hope that they are trying. I would happily own a Harley if they made one that appealed to me. Happily.

I actually agree with this.

I am stoked if they go through with it. I will still make teh joke though.

If I weren't viewing on my phone I wouldn't care. An image like that on a mobile device can be a bit of a PITA. Thanks! :thumbup

We already answered the education question.

British spelling, obviously! Which makes me much smarter than you, much thinner and fit than you, and much more educated than you. And given all that, probably all-around much more handsome than you.

We British are just born that way. Plus, we're better riders.

It's not a laughing stock of 90% of riders.:rolleyes

In the over 600cc class, Harley sells over 1/2 of all heavyweight motorcycles.:thumbup

Seriously... out of all the major manufacturers, BMW with their push towards the i3/i8, Honda with their hybrid technology, KTM with their hyping of the Freeride... who'd have thunk that H F'N D would be the first to get in on the electric streetbike market?

I've never owned a H-D and their culture isn't for me, but...

In 2013:
HD sold 167,016 bikes in the US among 324,691 total new on-highway bikes sold in the US.

So >50% of all on-road bikes sold in the US in 2013 were H-Ds, and the proportion was the same in 2011 and 2012.

They are hardly the laughing stock of 90% of riders.

I don't think they get enough credit for continually refining and adding features to their bikes as they stay true to what their customers want: loping v-twins, classic cruiser styling, assembled in the USA.

Hidden cables, wires and ABS sensor rings. Disguised liquid cooling. Advanced info-tainment systems. High quality paint, fit and finish.

They don't appeal to me, but development hasn't been stagnant.
