My 07 GSXR 600 is actin' up...

The other day the headlights would not come on (low beam, or high beam). keep in mind, the two "parking lights" in the enclosure are on. I turned the bike off, turned it back on, and it worked.

Fast forward a day. My lights will no longer come on. I push to turn on the high beams, and even the little blue light on the dash doesn't come on indicating the bright switched being flipped. I was also noticing that it was having trouble turning over (starting) a few times today, as if the battery was going to die.

I swapped out the battery w/ a friends and still no lights came on.

I swapped the bulbs and put them in his bike to re-assure myself it wasn't the bulbs... and the bulbs worked fine.

I've put a volt meter to the headlamp connectors and it doesn't seem to be getting any power.

I checked the fuse box and all fuses are in good condition.

And I guess it would be safe to say I am no longer experiencing any issues trying to start it.

Any ideas on the headlights?

Go thorugh and check all connectors and harnesses. Then go and check for current from lights back under you find the area where it loses contact with the power, and go from there

I checked the fusebox and neither of the fuses for the headlights are getting any power.

...the hunt continues.

no, I am talking about tracing the wire back, there can be a break or pinch somewhere (hence the lights coming on and off) and by tracing back little by little you can loacte the region, you know the fuses aren't getting power, so continue farther back, shake wires and see if the light flickers.

Electical is a bitch sometimes

Turns out to be the starter button. I push on it w/ something like a screwdriver and the lights come on. i take off the pressure, and they turn back off.

only thing that sucks is... you have to buy the whole assembly to replace it :(

I've taken apart the starting button.

There are two contacts that ride along 4 pads. For some reason, those 2 contacts that keep the headlight on, and/or authorize the hi beam to come on aren't touching... but when the start button is applied, they manage to touch.

It's a struggle, but I think i'm going to be able to fix it.

soldering won't solve this one.
