I just tried on a pair and they were amazingly comfortable with great feel. But I worry about the lack of cf knuckles and other familiar features of sport/track oriented gloves. Anybody who's used these gloves care to chime in?

I wear Held Profi gloves which are similar to the Steve gloves. They are VERY comfortable gloves. I came from using A* sp1's that had the CF knuckles, so I had the same concern. I then thought about both get offs I had and that only my palms touched the ground. I think the Helds have enough padding so that a rock or big bug wont hurt your knuckle either.

I know a lot of racers in the area use Helimot gloves, and those dont have hard knuckles.

CF knuckles have a cool factor and might give you protection if you punch a side view mirror, but I dont think its a must for gloves.

what did we all do before CF knuckles appeared on glove's? oh thats right we wore gloves with out CF knuckles:twofinger

I prefer the "Bruce" line. They have softer palms.

I crashed my first pair of Held Steve's three times, I've found a majority of the time crashing is spent "palms down". The lack of CF has never been an issue.

Have you tried the "chris" gloves? They have a really long...well yeah.

I crashed in my held galaxy. palms down. the flap where the rivets are came partially off. they'll even fix it for you for $40

Carbon fiber knuckles are not necessary; pure bling. I have two pairs of Profiles, been down in one of them and they did great.

I hate the CF knuckles and wish Held still made a high end pair without them.

I thought so too until I got tossed and hit a mile marker sign with my a* goves. It dented the sign.. I had my fist closed.. Just a light scratch on the gel coating but it did save my knuckles..

Carbon fiber knuckles do fuckall. Sure - you may get some more resistance abrasion but leather has more than enough to do the job. Putting a hard object between your hand and another hard object isn't going to do *anything* to absorb the impact. A couple nice layers of foam does much more to properly absorb the impact and dissipate the energy.

Held outsourced product years ago and Helmut stopped carrying their line because the quality control went down the shitter.

If you're seriously considering the Held Steves, cough up 20 more bucks and pick up the Helimot Buffalo 365s. The quality is head and shoulders above the competition. I absolutely love mine and there are many riders with pairs 6-7 years old that are still going at it.

^^^^ +1 about Helimots.

While very comfortable, my Helds developed a hole at the base of my left thumb after a year of daily riding.

Having CF enabled me to rap people's windows when mad, which one should really not do. I'm glad to have the temptation removed.

First part kinda true, second part totally untrue. Held gloves pre and post outsourcing are identical in quality. I've owned multiple pairs of both and there is zero difference. And Helmut started making his own gloves to make more money, plain and simple. It had nothing to do with Held quality. Why make distributor margins when you can make designer margins?

Helimot gloves are great as well, but some, like me, find them to be too bulky.

BTW, Held didn't 'outsource product'; they, like every other major manufacturer, moved 'production' to Asia.

Helimot gloves are made in the USA :) One of the main reasons I buy them.

I just bought a pair of Steves last week at the big CG sale, and thus far, I'm very impressed with them. I prefer a more conservative looking glove, anyway. As far as where they're made, I could care less, as long as they're good. I didn't buy my bike based on where it was built, why would I care where my gloves were made?*

As far as the whole "post-outsourcing" deal, I've heard that, and if these are examples of crappy gloves, damn, the old ones must have been motherfucking AMAZING. :laughing

*Unless they were stitched together by pairs of one-armed three year olds in cages. I'd pay extra for that.

I'm down to the Steve or Rev'it Stealth gloves. I became interested in the Stealths after I read an interview with Guy Martin who has some really nice things to say about them - including saying that they survived some serious crash testing. They do sponsor him, but whatever; if he didn't think they were a decent glove I'm sure he wouldn't be wearing it.

Anyway, I tried a pair at Scuderia and they were great....just didn't have my size. They're on order now. I'll try 'em on back to back with the Helds and buy whichever feels best.

the Helimonts do look great, but I really like the rivets in the palm of the Steve. After a get off at 80+ on the freeway that burned through the palm of Vanson leather gloves, I just kind of like the extra security. Any one know of other gloves with rivets in the palm?

+1 on the steve gloves a good simple glove with minimal bling. i also really like the squeege on the left index finger which works really good in light rain and misting conditions where you can't clear your visor by turning your head back and forth.
