Help a Young Dog on Death Row find a home

It's was my lady's sister who posted next door. She said she's talking it over with her husband about maybe them adopting him or if it comes down to it becoming an emergency situation possibly fostering

Just got off the phone with Dani. She's pretty torn up as is her daughter. Apparently upon receiving the news of the support Marsh had, the shelter sent out 2 emails yesterday and last night stating they were changing his status to be up for adoption.

Then they sent a 3rd this morning saying basically "adoption? What adoption? We put him down this morning."

I don't know for a fact if there was any breed bias by the shelter.

I don't know for a fact if there was any malice involved, straight incompetence, or what.

But someone, somewhere, dun fucked up big time. Dani wanted me to let you guys know. Debating on next steps - take action against the shelter? The personnel there involved? Advocacy groups for pibbles and put out a PSA about the shelter?

Sick to my stomach

I am devastated.
My daughter went to pick him up to bring him home...to me....
despite that assuring email that he wouldn't be a candidate to be euthanized. I just didn't want to wait and take a chance........and then I get a call from my child in pure inconsolable anguish.


I cannot even believe that for no reason and no concern, they just killed him.:(
I was willing and ready to give him a life!

I beg all of you to write a letter to the shelter. Send an RIP on Facebook to them with a call to take action.
After all that I know I believe that the adoption supervisor Andrea Jordan , should be fired.
Why should a person with the job description of adoption supervisor on paid salary have the sole power to euthanize at her discretion when an adopter is in the ready???
A week ago she writes my daughter threatening to euthanize Marsh and warns My daughter that she " has the power to decide at any time she wants , so don't get attached".
That email spurred this thread!!!


Then thinks she can spew out an email like she is trying to help Marsh - or cares- 14 hours before killing him with an adopter on her radar? It is a weird power trip and she seemed to want to convince people that she and the shelter has put in all this great effort with him while actual Volunteers do all the fostering.

They are allegedly Andrea Jordan's supervisors. Andrea or an Andrea equal hung up on me after I mentioned the ironic incompetence of her title as adoption supervisor. My daughter tells me that Ben W is very thoughtful and considerate. I hope so.

The problem I have with this shelter is revealed within both of Andrea Jordan's emails.
The first indicates her power to euthanize at her discretion and whim.

The second and last, hours before she kills him,( posted above) still shows the absolute failure of how she does this job: she represents the dog as sweet, loving, devoted, kind and mentions wanting long term foster care and or adoption because he deserves it and they can't do the job.....BUT at the end of the email asks not to share the email or the contact information to family or anyone else.
So, The dog was with them for 3 weeks, fostered by my daughter for a week, yet Andrea Jordan's email went out only to a few people within the shelter and in the same email restricted their ability to get the word out to anyone who wasn't working with the shelter already!!!:wtf. What. the. hell
control Freak??? Power hungry??
Meanwhile,
Barf in a few days, came up with quite a few possibilities and a few links to post to , and a definitive adopter in a short time. Thank you guys so much for all your help and I am so sorry for you all too...and for Marsh.


Problem 2:

Marsh was never even on the adoption list for people to be able to consider!!! THAT is the tragedy of this shelter. I get that they need to weed out biters, point out flaws to or prevent returns or bad matches...but LET THE PEOPLE see ALL of the dogs and just be transparent!!
There was literally little to NOTHING wrong with this dog and yet people couldn't even get him on the radar of REAL viable adopters and I was ready to adopt a week ago if necessary and they knew it.

I have rehabbed even extremely aggressive biting attacking pit bulls and this was a black lab/ slight pit mix with NO real issues at all.
I hope she chokes on her own sweet description of this poor dog. So disgusted she just flipped a switch on him with no warning.

I think that what turned me to tears was reading your last post earlier today.....about the same time he was being euthanized. How can this woman justify her actions after what she wrote?
I don't handle death well, especially when it's so unfair.:(


The FACEBOOK posts on the shelter Facebook site are awesome. Let them know that you were there and you watched this happen!! Please keep them coming and stick up for Marsh and so this doesn't happen again!
 
It's really really fucked they handled it like that. I mean he was so close to getting out. Sounds like something that should be turned over to the local media. Whoever made the call to put him down should not have a job. They sound extremely unprofessional by the way this went down
 
What a cruel person Andrea is.... Marsh looked like a dog with so much potential and then she decides to end his life. R.I.P ):
 
WHAT THE FUCK. no offense dani, seriously, your heart, as always, is in the right place, but how the hell do we fail like this? peeps are gonna stop clicking on these threads if they keep ending in tears. if intervention is possible, a firm deadline needs to be established, understood, and managed to. otherwise we're all being spun up for a massive heartbreak.
