Help gutting stock exhaust

Yea get a used pipe somewhere. As long as it looks good it probably is good. Just keep an eye out and you'll find one!

Removing the cat for sound is silly. Change the muffler

Moved to the garage.

Remove the smog pump while you're at it.
That's what we did in the seventies along with flipping our air cleaner top upside down.
It didn't add more power but we sure thought it did.

This topic belongs in The Sink more than it deserves space in The Garage.

Leave the exhaust alone and try cardboard in the spokes. Chicks love it and bros will think it's cool.

tinnitus can also be caused by wind noise in your helmet. Plenty of riders with stock exhausts have developed tinnitus. Ask me how i know. :(

what? I can't hear you over the whistling in my helmet thanks to the shitty windshield design on my multi.

^This^ ....and ditto.
(although all those Day on The Green concerts back-in-the-day probably didn't help my cause much)

I am planning on Gutting the inside of my stock exhaust. The main goal here is to open it and take the cat out. I want to increase the sound on bike at a cheaper cost than spending 2k on Termi exhaust for now. I notice many people on the Ducati Forum Have this done but send it out to someone else to do it. I rather spend less on doing myself but dont have what I need to get it done in my own. Motorcycle is a 2014 Ducati 899.

If anyone on here could help or knows of a place I can go to get help please let me know.

I've done it a lot... Then get a deep Sound, using Super Trapp disks + Open end caps (or caps).

Cardboard??

Playing cards! Extra points if they're all the ace of spades. :teeth

OP, instead of going through all the hassle of doing the work on your existing exhaust (and risk f'ing it up), why not just buy get a used spare stock set and have it done professionally? You won't risk your original set.

Cored Exhaust from PHL, wow!

It's an old thread but just an example. :)

Thanks for all the comments guys. I don't plan on just taking cat out and doing nothing with it. I am getting Rapid Bike Evo to tune it for me. As for exhaust I can always pick a spear up stock if needed from Forums or like it was said on eBay cheapest I seen is 250 most expensive is 300. Not my daily driver by the way I do have another bike if needed. Reason why I don't do it myself as suggests is I don't have the tools or a welder.

OP making "Vroooming" noised with his mouth will also make his Ducati seem more manly to him, especially if done inside a full-face helmet. Plus, other folks won't be upset by the increased noise as OP parades by at full profile. Win/Win.

:laughing
