Hey girls....

I'm thinking that your numbers are outside the national norm being in the Bay Area with much more moto-centric and be-who-you-are thinking.

Like this song...

As mentioned to LuchTriple, I wish I see more of you lady riders out there. The last large group I did was with the Pediatric Brain Tumor ride sponsored by Honda. It was a good size group so it required police and CHP escort.

I saw a nurse riders club there. Their members are made up of mostly female nurses so that was nice to see. Also saw many other female participants there but mostly as passenger, not operator. Even with the nurse riders club included, the overall female motorcyclist participants only made up a small percentage of the whole group. I say probably about 10% based on my guestamation?

Hope to see more of you ladies operating a moto out there.

I could be wrong, but rides likes you described are more geared toward clubs. It seems like aside from women only groups, women don’t join standard clubs as often and a big reason may be that they have a (misplaced) reputation for starting out like HA and have to work down from there to be inclusive enough to attract any women. It’s boring and a waste of time to have to fight for your rights at every turn, so we make our own groups.

Awe…that’s so sweet M. Let’s see there are so many of us that battle the highways and byways on their way to work every day. There’s LB who slayed dragons on 880 for years and years. Woodschick whose only consolation to 4 wheels is the van that hauls hers and his bikes to starting points of epic adventures. I believe there’s you on the Super Chicken, in a kilt leading the brigade in a kilt. Yama Emma who could never resist using a paper plate for her skidding stoppies. Lucytriple who lives, breathes and fixes motorcycles all while being the awesomest of single moms. I’ve missed a bunch but barf is littered with us and we are each our own badass.

Sorry I misspelled your username Lucy in my previous reply (fat fingers syndrome). ;)

The ride I described is open to anyone as it's charity run for kids battling brain tumor. It's actually call "Ride for Kids", my age and memory are not what it used to be. And it's sponsor by Honda.

Here's a little summary of their cause: "As the nation’s longest-running charitable motorcycle ride, Ride for Kids has raised millions of dollars to support research and family programs for children battling brain tumors. Local rides have traditionally taken place on various days throughout the year."

Not sure how accurate the numbers in the attached photo are but got me curious so I did a little digging. I like to see the percentage of female motorcyclists up in the 40-50% range so I've asked the ones I rode with to spread the word. Obviously, don't forced anyone that doesn't want to ride to get a motorcycle (men or women) but do share how therapeutic it can be. Anyways, hope to see more "girls" out riding their motorcycles in the future. (y)

@Melissa thank you for you kind words. i am definitely broken but hoping to be back on two soon.

@ThumperX i enjoy riding like a girl. i even have a fleece @bikewanker made me that has “rides like a girl” embroidered on it.

@Lucytriple i fell in the with smr guys inadvertently. they took me under their wings and bam, i was part of the show up or dont group.

i can’t see myself joining a club. a lot of my riding is solo or with just one other person. i aspire to look like a fat old man with my gear and bikes so good luck spotting me. :teeth
