A friend who retired to AZ reached out to me to tell me his son just bought a Ninja 500. He also lives in AZ now but in discussion with Dad asked him if he knew anything about BARF.

His response.. "Yes. I know the owner. He was the guy in HS I rode with and he never stopped riding and racing".

He asked me to text him to offer any advice etc. He also said I guess I need to get a street bike to ride with him.
My bud and I were both dirt bike dudes in middle school and he got a bad ass Triumph flat tracker style bike in high school.

Some good times had and some experiences that we not so good, but make for good stories.. Like when I loaded him on my RD 350 after he crashed and taking him to ER.

Moto's make a life long connection and this one now includes a second gen rider. Just thought it was cool and thought I would share.

Invited him to join barf of course and pointed him to 1Rider.

Happy stories are happy...Good for you...(y)

It's amazing how far BARF has come over the years (but do miss some of the good ole banter that used to happen).

Oh man so do I. And many of the people involved.
Some very cool folks have come and gone. Always nice to see someone check in for sure.

Like Jason? Don't recall his handle, busa rider, did a lot of group rides on 84/Pescadero, IT dude I think. Coined the "Fucktard" moniker.

I think you are referring to BudBandit. He was great to this community. Went on a few of his rides until I almost taken out twice from 2 different riders that blew the corner behind me. Now I only ride with people I know. I think he also coined "Ass Hat"

BudBandit chimes in occasionally. He is awesome. Times have changed and we realize it is safer to ride in small groups of people we know.
Communication and social interface methods have changed, obviously. Dog save the children.

A cool story I have is my neighbors moved away 20 years ago and in the past I had put their 15-year-old son on my ATK for a ride at Metcalf and it was pretty cool. But hey, they moved away and life moved on.
So in the recent past these two dudes showed up in my driveway on adventure bikes, and, lo and behold, it was Erin, the kid, the 15-year-old kid, with his pal on there. Cool stuff.

Ah yes….. budbandit. I agree Jason is pretty cool dude.

That is a cool deal Butch!

And during my conversation with my buds son he sent me a picture of Dads bike. Pretty sweet ride for a sophomore in high school.

He said this was the day before he crashed and I scraped him off the ground and rode him to Veterans hospital. Yup. Not even Stanford. We were both in shock. When we got there I could not even speak really.

A Dr caught us walking in and explained this is the Veterans hospital and there is no ER.

When Ken lifted his jacket and showed the Doc a 1-1/2” hole just below his rib cage the Dr said holy shit (or something like that) and hustled him in for treatment.

When Ken lifted it for me at the crash site and I could see guts and stuff it freaked me out. I dropped my bike turning around. I was shaking.

I'd never heard that story about Ken. I remember his Triumph having a white tank... same bike post-crash, or a different one?

Kind of similar story - was riding out at Sunnyvale PAL with a buddy. We'd gone down the entrance road - sandy concrete - and I motioned for him to flip a U. He locked up the front brake, went over the bars, and landed on his chin (open-face helmet).

I rode over to help him up. He lifted his chin and asked, "How's it look?"

I went, "Ugh," and turned my head away. It was raw.

This was before we were old enough to drive, so I went over to the quarter-midget track next door (the good ol' days) and asked if I could use the phone. Had to call his dad and tell him, "Adrian crashed... his chin is pretty bad."

His dad was calm, and Adrian actually handled it pretty well. Ended up getting plastic surgery. Good times, good times.

Good memory Pete. I was the same. My memory said all white and a flat track tail without the fender. It looked way cooler and legit with those big flanders.

I remember my dad hounding me about playing golf growing up... He would warn me that golf was the only way to make it in business. So, I moved across the country and bought a motorcycle.

This community has rewarded me so many times over the years I'm rich with experiences, memories, and excitement ahead. Tell him to watch this movie: https://www.whyweride.com/watch-now. It's one of the greats (IMO).

Hey that was me! Haha! Thanks for the ride to the Vets hospital! Definitely a case of target fixation on that crash. It wiped out the red and white paint job on the tank, it was gray after that. Also the new paint job on my Bell Star that day that probably saved my life, hit almost face first, cracked the helmet up both sides. 😳 Best of times!

Not the best of times... but a memorable one.

Sup Ken :wave
