Honda CBR Easy Rider

then he shoulda bought a different bike, no?

There's the paradox of the current motorcycle market; the buying population is aging, but the manufacturers still build the top of the line repli-racers for the racers, usually young, small(ish) in physical stature, and able to torture themselves for hours at a time in a rather contorted position.

If old guys like me wanna ride them, we're gonna bitch and moan about how uncomfortable we are riding them for more then an hour and get all cranky that they don't build high-horspower sport bikes for the geriatric crew! :laughing (Yet, like some of the larger ladies trying to their hooves in those fancy pumps, we keep trying to squeeze ourselves on the latest and greatest, and usually a few sizes too small!)

I put moto bars on my GSXR750 exactly because of my back. I can ride this thing for 400 miles a day and still feel great. The two first shots are from before I removed the stock mirrors, and the last shot is how she looks right now.
It handles just as razor sharp now as with the clip-ons.
He has the right idea, just the wrong execution.

:thumbup I saw the pics in your road trip thread of your bike and I have seriously started think about a similar set-up....

Hang on guys....there is no comparison between the set up on the Lucky Strike Gix and that 600RR. That 600 has the most ass backward, tossed together, gonna-fall-apart-any-day look to it. Lonester, looks like you did it right.

That 600RR looks like a kid put the bars on it during lunch break. I understand the concept, but if you are going to "superbike bar" a modern supersport bike.....you should spend more than $35 doing it. A $9000 bike with that setup on it makes no sense to me. His bike, do what ya want with it, but it looks like making a bad decision with regards to "what bike should I buy" just morphed into a bunch of other bad decisions about bars.

Like Lonster said, right idea, just wrong execution.

Maybe he had memories of his 1978 Honda Passport and just wanted to recreate a fond memory from his youth? :laughing

Somewhere there's a 10-yr-old crying that some old dude with a fucked up back stole his handlebars...

crappy parking job, he parked it right on the oil slick there.

This guys not hitting the twisties thats for sure, especially if his back hurts, maybe he just likes to cruise around and get lots of stares.

Old school helmet, maybe its Eddie Lawson..

Fuckin sick dude :thumbup:thumbup:thumbup

ok it looks retarded
but i have to ask.
does it affect the handling of the bike to have the bars that high.
almost looks like the weight of the bike would be too high and too far back.

Of course it does. Less weight on the front=Diffirent handling.

I dont understand why theres so much hate towards this. The setup looks great. Just because it does not have gold Protapers and fat risers its substandard? I like it. ESSENTIAL for a 600 mile day.

Pete

I'd rather make fun of him for not having mirrors than for having a screwed up back.

He does have mirrors. Look up about a foot.

But where are the highway pegs? :hand

what do you expect, its parked outside of roadrider

:rofl

anyways, ive met the guy that rides that thing and hes a nice nice older guy. i was laughing too when i saw it but after talking with him it seemed like a pretty good idea for what he wants out of a bike.

I think the root of the problem is that the idea is not horrible, but the setup is crap! Look how that is put together!? if you want the bars a little bit higher and wider, OK, I get it, but that is fuckin' silly. He really should have bought a different bike......acutally, forget that. It is his bike, his money & his time, he can do whatever he wants to it. Personally, I think it was done poorly though, there are "right" ways to do things and "wrong" ways to do them. I am not the authority on such matters, but if we ever find him/her and showed them that picture I think they would agree:teeth
