Such a nice bike...One of the best sounding motors of all time.

wha?!

you have two?!?!?! ive always wanted to hear one, or at least see one in person.

what a beast!

I got to borrow one of these for Daytona Bike Week. I actually got respect from the Harley faithful on Main Street. Cool bike.

Oooooooo. Don't see those too often anymore. I had a '79 with the sport package (lower clip ons and setback pegs). Sure it was heavy, and a 100hp literbike is certainly nothing special these days. But the sound! Oh my! The thing revved so fast. You'd swear the flywheel and other rotating parts had no mass to it them at all. Plus, since day one there's always been the head turning factor. People do a double take at seeing that massive inline 6 showcased for all to see and it draws probably a bigger crowd than an MV Augusta probably would.

The Red one is a 79 and the Black one is an 80. Both have the "Sport Package" as well as the updated speedometer.

I used to ride a 1981 CBX...why did I let that go :cry ? Oh yeah it was a bitch to get to the carbs and valves :p .

A friend of mine tried to turbo a CBX... it worked until it threw a rod, twice.

Nice bikes, sorry you had to get them the way you did.

Edit: Wow, those even have the Euro-kit rearsets and handlebars!

The tailsection on that '79 is worth a few bucks. I remember getting a spare with the compartment like the '80 model has and saving the original. Shit...I also had a set of brand new OEM pipes too!

Why oh why did I sell it! Dammit.

Yes, I have two and are both immaculate. They were both a gift I never wanted to get, they became mine when my Father passed away. Here is a magazine article on the Black one. http://www.cbxclub.com/davespage/mcy86-1.html

Your father and I had a mutual friend in Herb Marcus. Sent him the link last night. From what I hear, your father was one heck of a great guy.

FWIW, the CBX club gets together a few times a year to ride to Death Valley, Montana and the big get together in Morro Bay. We also ride out to Carson City, Ventura and some meet up on Moss Beach. Riders come from as far north as Canada, south from L.A. and from the east coast. The Montana ride is a 10 day deal up through Idaho and then Glacier Nat'l Park. Good people and great times. Some of the club members have a number of CBX's and are a great source of info.

Let me know if you want to join us for one of the rides.....

Sucks the way you got them without a doubt. But those are sweet! My stepdad had one while I was growing up. Man I loved snagging the keys while they were at work! :laughing I wish he hadn't sold it.
