How About a 2013 Suzuki GSR750?

I think they are just missing the mark. Americans are a bunch of gear-head hot rodders. We want a really fast bike but with regular handlebars. A GSXR with handlebars, street fighter, dragbike, corner carver. We'll buy the bike if they make one and keep making it for a few years. We want performance. American style. A bike that you can transform into what ever you want it to be. The new Aprillia Tuono V4, got it right, how about it Japan?

I think your perspective is entirely skewed by the market in the Bay Area. Elsewhere, bikes like the Tuono are totally ignored everywhere else.

They bring these bikes over all the time. Nobody buys them, so they stop bringing them here.

Kawasaki tried to sell you the Z750, nobody bought one. Kawasaki tried to sell you the W650, nobody bought one.

I have seen exactly one FZ8 and one Ninja1000 on the street, does anyone own one of the new Z1000's?

I see Z1000's often.

Standard naked bikes just don't sell that well here unless its Italian or British. Everyone wants a cruiser.

I guess that might be true if I was from the Bay Area. Maybe California is the skewed market. My best riding buddy has the new Tuono... go figure?

Unfortunately, the actual numbers and reality prove you to be completely wrong and Gabe completely right.

Americans want sport bike with clip-ons or HD style cruisers. That is a undeniable fact. :thumbup

I agree it's retarded, and I would like a bike like you describe, but 99% don't.:cool

I've been looking for a W650. There is one on eBay right now and they guy has 2 others.

I think either SF Moto or Moto Java just old a W650 a few weeks ago. They are rare.

I don't see why radial mount should cost any more than axial mount. I can see why upside down forks cost more than conventional forks, but at the point that you already have cartridge forks I don't see adjustment adding much cost.

Yes, every little bit adds up - but they should at least do something like what Triumph does with the Street Triple and offer an R version.

Hm...that's a good point. Maybe it has something to do with the quality of the materials and the manufacturing process? Or amortizing the design? Those 2-pot Tokico calipers Suzuki uses have been around forever.

Quite an overreaction for such innocent comments... Although I'm pretty sure you're off on sales numbers and profit margins. God only knows how you'll overreact to that!

I know, right? I really need to be punched in the face.

It's just that I've been hearing this constantly since I started the motojournalism gig 7 years ago. In fact, the first press launch I went on was the Z750S. http://www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/kawasaki/2005-kawasaki-z-750s-15722.html. And nobody bought it. Then I went on the 599 intro. Nobody bought that either. And every time a new Euro-only bike, dudes on internet fora decide this would be the perfect bike, if only the OEMs brought it in.

At least somebody here gets it...

Huh! That sounds exactly like the Ducati Streetfighter to me. They probably sell like 800 a year. They've been building it for 4 model years, I think...

Half fairings don't look good. So that hurt the Z750S and the FZ1, and the FZ6.

Kawasaki seems to get it now, making every new bike look like a ZX10R.

For the GSR750, the FZ8 is pretty similar so if you don't want that, you probably don't really want the GSR750.

Peterich cycles in Orland has one on their showroom floor, new old stock, 1 mi. on the odometer.

Really? I was like, "no way!" so I compared the two bikes--and I think you're right. The Suzi is actually 10 pounds heavier and makes less torque, though it bests the Yammie about 2-5 hp as far as I can tell.

If you guys are serious about getting on a sporty standard, the FZ8 is pretty sweet at $8890, as is the Street Triple--and if you want to spend a couple grand more, the Z1000, the CB1000R, the 848 Streetfighter, Speed Triple, XR1200X (RIP), Moto Guzzi Griso...jeez, maybe we actually do have a good selection of naked sportbikes here. That nobody buys.

But there is gold in Mobile!

WTF?!? Did Bub Rub move to Alabama?

Sweet shirt, BTW...where would somebody go to buy one of those, I wonder...

Yeah, also BMW F800R and R1200R, and Ducati Monsters. And now the Suzuki SFV650 again. Considering how few seem to actually sell we can't complain.

We're also getting this thing:

I still bet Suzuki would sell more of these than the Gladius (or whatever they call it now), a model I still have yet to see out on the road.
