I feel like I'm going slow as hell, feel like I'm leaned quite a bit, yet I'm not making as sharp a turn as I should be. Is it just in my mind?

I've only recently picked up riding again so assume I'm making beginner mistakes.

arms are stiff, most likely the "lower" arm (inner arm?).

You press right to lean right. If you keep it stiff, bike runs wide. Press to lean, then relax.

I was doing that too untill I read about proper seating position in Sport Riding Techniques by Nick Ienatsch and realized that I was sitting a little too far from the tank. A slight shift forward to within an inch or so from the tank helped my arms relax alot more. I'm still pretty slow but it feels alot better.

Put your face towards the mirror. This will prevent you from getting crossed up and also keep your arms loose. I find myself not doing it sometimes and just the simple fact that I'm crossed up and not putting weight over the side will dramatically change my turn radius compared to lean.

Look farther through the corner.. get on the gas..step on the pegs. But take it easy, you know.. don't give er all at once..

weight on the pegs +1 use the contersteer to initiate the lean, then use your pressure with you feet on the pegs to adjust the lean accordingly. push down on your inside foot to turn the bike more if needed. push on the outside to straighten the bike out.

I like pulling on the outside bar rather than pushing on the inside one. It's the same darn thing but with less freezing (both arms pushing in a death grip) action.

Also target fixate on the inside of the turn if you are going to target fixate, except in lefts (maybe that's why they are so hard: don't put yer head near the DY, cars routinely cross it).

Go slow to go fast, ride to live and all that.

Through the turn just keep reminding yourself "loose elbows, loose elbows". I would recommend going so far as to move them back and forth a little to make sure your arms aren't stiff

+2 or so on the putting your head by the inside mirror.
