How common are your first and LAST names in the US?

My first name is popular among singers and astronauts, my last name is in the top 25.
The combo is actually really common.

So common there are members here with my names. I experienced someone who had both my first and last names, on two separate times. Once in college where they messed up our classes and grades, and once at my career job where meeting invites would get messed up.

First name went from 561st to 693rd. Last name "no matching record found. Not terribly surprising. Everyone I've ever met with the same last name has been a relative.

My first name was 965th in 2020.:laughing

My last name was 4th.

If you wanted to have the number one first and last names you would be Michael Smith in 2020.

My wife's first name is 26th and her last name is not even on the chart as there is only two in the US that I'm aware of, (her and my daughter).

When you type in her maiden name, (which is hyphenated with my last name now), you get "no matching records found."

Her maiden last name she got from her Dad who came from then Czechoslovakia via Ellis Island back in the day during prohibition.

With a bottle of brandy in his diaper.:thumbup

EDIT, linky:

My first name was wildly common at the time I was born, my last is remarkably rare and anyone in the U.S. that has it is probably no more than a 2nd cousin of mine. We got an unusual mis-spelling at Ellis Island when they got here.

i'm top 15 w00t w00t

i had a meeting this week with a couple and all three of us shared the same first name :rofl

My mom was a devout catholic and named me after Archangel Michael, who I just Googled. Seems like a solid dude:

Archangel Michael is a revered spiritual warrior and leader of heavenly hosts in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam, best known for defending Heaven and fighting evil, particularly casting Satan down in the Book of Revelation. His name means "Who is like God?" and he is considered a protector of humanity, patron of soldiers, police, and the sick.

Some of us Mikes are born on all saints day to boot ;) :thumbup

I have the census stuff for first names from 2020 and surnames from 2010. I come in at 33rd and 46th, respectively. There is a reason why I use a middle initial, I'm not the only one around with my first and last name. I've even met a few of the others. That's probably even a more common occurrence if your name is Bill Smith. I've know at least three guys named Bob Davis, for example.

Same as my stepson. He had the choice to be adopted and have my last name, but he didn't care for my German surname.

Walk into Super Cuts for a rare haircut by a professional. Wife has cut my hair for 40+ years. I say it looks busy but gal at desk says to give her my name, as I do, she says take that seat, indicating to where a client is done.

I mildly protest, pointing to those seated before I walked in. Nope, she insists I'm next. Ushers me to the waiting chair.

As I'm getting my trim, overhear some guy complaining that he had a reservation. You are already here asserts the confused gal at the counter.

What happened? They gave me Bill Smith's reservation. That guy. Not me.

I basically have three first names,
Trying to get meds refilled, hand my DL for id, and get "You are not in the system"
I don't exist, can't read a DL, last name first, first name second, middle last, universal.
Gave me grief for a South Dakota license, messed up my name, and tried to make it stick.
Go away, no pills for you.
