How difficult for non-Leo to get a CCW permit?

My son-in-law recently moved in with us after living for quite a few years in Nevada. He spent time in the army and has a CCW permit for Nevada. He has indicated that he would like to get a California permit as well. I get the impression that it's kind of hard to get a permit in California to carry a concealed weapon.

How difficult is it to get a CCW permit in California?
Is it the same state-wide?
Would it be easier in Sacramento County than San Francisco?

Thanks for any information on this subject.
 
Sac is better than most counties, but the short answer is its hard.

Certain civilians get them for business related security, like jewelry couriers. This ain't Nevada though.
 
Each county is different. Many in true Northern California, including Mendocino are shall issue. As you get closer to the Bay Area it seems to become more difficult.
 
His chances of winning the Mega Millions is better than being granted a CCW in the Bay Area. My friends who live up in Red Bluff got their CCWs with no issues.

Sacramento county is a shall issue county. As long as you don't have anything in your background that will disqualify they will issue you a permit. The only thing they will accept for a good cause is. "I wish to have a CCW for the protection of myself and my family".

I have my CCW from Placer county and in my training class there were people doing their Sac Co class as well. The process takes almost a year right now.

Have someone in the ATF endorse him, if he has DOD, DOS clearances should be a breeze. There's always away especially in ugly states like these,

No :( ,lol but ive contracted for the department of state and currently contracting for DOD ,

Laws involving CCW ,OC im pretty familiar with since I OC in pennsylvania
and will carry my weapon over here when i mail them to myself.

when it comes to local laws. I dont care :rofl not to be a dick but federal
overides everything. :thumbup CA is a crazzy place pinned maggs no OC :|
But im gathering up my paperwork currently and im going through the DOJ
The worst thing you can do is not to be fully up to date on local OC,CCW,DOJ laws federally and locally. Fortunately on the underground mercenary express
there are loops and having a security clearance helps, I do believe that ifg you have a MRPT (moderate risk public trust) or the equivalent you can have a investigation done on you and be permitted to carry condition 1 in CA.

I am knee deep studying the laws right now and looking into it,So please dont cite me on it , Ive had my weapons confiscated and released back to me in PA,

Just for the time being I will not carry until I for sure have a meeting with the sherriff in OAKLAND.

1. First of all COPS DO NOT KNOW THE CLEAR CUT LAW ON CARRY:mad
If you are a cop sorry bro n hard feelings.

2.When you do carry bring a copy of your local rights and federal law,know which tier city you are in. I have had a weapon drawn on me by a Officer
then within 15 minutes was having a smoke with him, Saves time if you can reference on the spot.

3. Touching your weapon while its on you is a no no.local liberals will lose there mind.

I will properly reference and cite the articles once i have a meeting and carry myself until then i may be wrong/right. But one thing for sure I carry guns for work so im damn gonna carry them off :)
