I have a new 07 GSXR750. I installed Ohlins fork inserts, rear shock, and damper.

I had Moss set my suspension, but he did not touch the damper.

The damper has 18 settings. SO...there must be a reason there are so many settings.

What do I do? There is basically no info out there on damper set-up.

EDIT: No wise cracks, I understand to make the adjustment you turn the dial :p

I read you're suppose to adjust it to the first point where you can't feel it. Then again, I really have no clue.

Adjust it to where you feel comfortable with it. To tight and your fighting the bike. To loose and you're not getting enough. Pick a setting and take it out for a ride. Change the setting and another and so forth until you find a setting that feels good to you.

Just thought about this.

My riding style involves no wheelies or stoppies. I don't know how to wheelie and one of my legs would not support the bike if lands slightly sideway during a stoppie.

My riding style is hard canyon style and a couple of track days.

If you adjust it too stiff you will notice it when going slow, such as in a parking lot. It will feel difficult to balance the bike. If you set it too loose then you might get more head shake than you would like when the front end gets light. Where you set it is really a matter of preference.

For a good starting point, when you are sitting still move the handle bars back and fourth, increasing the resistance. When you first start to feel it starting to get more difficult, back it off 1 or 2 clicks. Then ride around and see how it feels. If it is set right you should not be able to tell that it is even there.

I just put a new damper on my bike and have been adjusting according to the ride/roads that i'm going on... Tight twisty stuff or intown riding I keep it 1-2 clicks from 0... Freeway riding and roads like bear creek & San Pablo damn road with mostly big sweeping turns I turn it up to maybe 5-6 clicks from 0... They're pretty easy to adjust on the fly.

Ok my GPR I was able to adjust on the fly. I took it out to redwood since it was in my backyard. I just kept turning it up one click until I noticed that the rear tire felt loose. I backed it down one notch and the bike was perfect it felt like one as it moved through the bumpy turns. My gpr had 16 adjustments I had it on 6 or 7.
