How long are suits supposed to last?

Italian made agv 1 pc lasted 5-6 yrs of daily commute b4 leather itself started to weaken & tear, stitching held up fine

My bates suit was still in good shape after 17 years, beer, burgers, and burritos made a change necessary.

But they're not *dryable*, so washing the suit means not being able to wear it for a day or so.

Febreze FTW!

Aerostich recommends drying in a dryer. I forget whether it's a low or medium heat. In any case, I've done it a number of times and it works just fine.

However.........after washing, if you want it to be waterproof, you really need to treat it again. And then, of course, you need to let it hang out in the air to dry for a couple days.

I was wondering the same thing. I want a Dainese custom suit, and would be thinking of commuting with it, but I don't want to get it all messed up..I want to keep it nice for the track (and only to be messed up there if necessary :x). Oh well, I might as well save for a two-piece for commuting in addition a custom.

depends on what manufacturer. frank thomas, won't last for shit. helimot, will last you 10+ years easy.

Have you ever had a Frank Thomas suit? Mine has been shelved after almost 4 years of use commuting and 1 high side that finally started pulling the zipper out of the legs (landed pretty hard and slid on my side for awhile). Seems that most people that harp on FT are going by what someone else said or that they cost less than others.:confused Not trying to give you crap, just wondering.

I guess I really shouldn't say anything though. I got a bonus from a job and went out and got a two-piece Rev-It for commuting and posing:laughing I'll get the FT fixed and use it for track.

A good quality suit that is taken care of and conditioned can last 20 years. I had a fellow come in with an 18 year old one-piece that had been down in multiple times and repaired, and I still wouldn't have hesitated using that suit. As stated earlier, buy good quality gear, and it pays off in protection and longevity.

if you dont use leather cleaner and leather protectant every few months your suit may not last id guess.Especially if you use it every day.....jeez id use leather cleaner and protectant once a month if i used it that much.

Like dad used to say if you want it to last you need to take care of it. that applies to women, cars, houses, motos, leathers, shoes, and pets.

i sold fieldsheer for a while, not uncommon for them to wear fast. Hate to use the phrase, but you get what you pay for
