How not to react when your child tells you that he's gay

I wouldn't love them any less. Rather have them be true to themselves. Plus, I'd probably have a more fabulous looking home.

Nemo, thank you for the update. I was just lamenting about this story the other day. Through his work, I hope that he is able to touch lots of other young men. I know, my phrasing isn't always the best. :teeth Seriously though, I love that he is helping so many people. Love it! :thumbup

I honestly think that for some homosexuality can be a choice. Especially for females.
Some are predisposed to bisexuality and going either way is actually an option
But if somebody tells me they are just gay and always felt that way I believe it.
I'm sure the majority is simplify gay and it was never a choice just as I never chose my sexuality either.
But the fact that bisexuals exit I think confuses a lot of people.

As far as religion, I'm sure most here know my opinion on that so I'll let it go.
However that was a disturbing video indeed.

Well then that's being bisexual. Not choosing to be gay or straight.

Ever heard of a spectrum? I firmly believe that we all fall somewhere on the spectrum. Most of us are close enough to one end or the other to be essentially gay or straight, but many seem to fall in between. That's just my take on it. You can believe whatever you choose to believe.

I agree.
There aren't two separate types of sexuality.
it's a number line

I don't disagree with the whole spectrum thing.
All I'm saying is that it can be confusing for the average person who does not think about such things too much.

Unfortunately, logic and basic concepts seem to confuse a lot of people. It is quite unfortunate. I just feel bad for this poor kid and the others like him who have to deal with the hopelessly ignorant on a daily basis.

I think it's awesome that the kid isn't milking it for his own benefit, but rather using his fifteen minutes to help others.

Good person

Well I'm not gonna touch this except I will say there are people who believe in God and such that accept gays with open arms and don't judge. The pricks or in this case prickette (that nutter mom) is disgusting simply for treating her son that way. Too bad the good folks of faith don't get the press as do the hypocrates like that woman. If she was a real person of faith she'd love her son unconditionally.

Ah religion n politics, let's talk about porn instead.

Yeap. I also think that the current 'trend' of it being OK for women to be bi, is why so many more women than men self-identify as being bi.

For me, it seems there is an even larger stigma to being gay than for women - I don't KNOW if that's true, that's just my impression - but if true, then it explains why men rarely 'come out' as being bi unless they are way far over on the homosexual end of the spectrum.

I mean, why bother coming out as bi if you can keep your cover of being straight and just sleep with women, or at least, only admit to that?

I look forward to the day when it's a non-issue, simply another part of how you describe someone, like the color of their hair.

It's definitely true. No question.
