How one man destroyed the Food Network: Guy Fieri

Good. What a cunt
Thing that bugged me about Flay is that he is yet another New York type that is the "expert" on Southwestern regional cuisine. No locals, especially with ez's behind their names need apply. Only a New Yorker can talk to the other New Yorkers to convince them whats good. Like Copland's Rodeo. I mean, Copland was great, but that was an idea of Western music with zero relation to actual cowboy and western music. This has been going on for over a century and it gets old.

that dude dont eat vegi's. watch him when he tastes shit. he avoids them. sometimes the chef's give that look like "yo, the best part is the veggies broheeeems, i slaved away at this and all you want is your fat american hamburgler meat!"

never understood the hype about 'celebrity chefs'...

checked out a wolfman puck's place just to see what the hype is all about and it was rather boring and I felt I paid more for the décor than the actual meal...

Wouldn't it be the FN destroying the FN, by hiring GF?

I would assume once you get to that point he's not doing any of the cooking or prep work anymore, or even any sort of quality control to make sure it's something he'd want to still have his name attached to.

I ate at Emiril's Something-Something steakhouse in Vegas. Real fucking good steak there. Very quiet, very nice place. Delmonico? That might have been it.

My GF worked for GF at one of the Pebble Beach Food & Wine events a few years back, said he was a pretty nice to work with/for...

She also worked quite a bit for the Iron Chef, Morimoto, because of her fluency in Japanese. He gave her his presentation chef's jacket with his signature and a note of gratitude. She tells me it's a note of gratitude, it could say "Call me!" for all I know, I don't read Japanese....

I like watching DDD. Guy comes across as a blowhard but I get a kick out of the locations he visits and it's easy to make fun of him :laughing

Bobby flay has all the personality of a canned ham. Can't stand him.

And as much as Alton Brown's affectations irritate me, he has some really great pointers.

As far as Rachel Ray is concerned, I think Tokki said it best

There are people on the Food Network that can actually cook. However, in all the years I've watched that channel, I don't think I've ever seen Guy Fieri cook one single dish start to finish. Flay isn't a bad chef either, he's just a celebrity chef who's probably allowed the pop star status to go to his head. Back in the early days of Iron Chef America, he was a totally different person. However, he does actually know how to cook. Rachel Ray can DIAF. She's an everyday home cook that I'm guessing producers at FN figured would relate well to housewives and the like. I enjoy Ina Garten's stuff and really enjoy anything Alton Brown does.

Guy is a pretty nice guy and easy to talk with. My brother or myself usually see him at SF bars. The Food Network was dying and now it is one of the top stations on cable tv. The reason behind that was it was boring to watch. Now they have personalities for almost every genre and you are bound to like some but not others. That right there is genius and speaking to your audience.

That article is a hack. There were plenty of personalities before Guy and there will be plenty afterwards.

Speak for yourself. I've worked with him in a professional capacity and he was a spoiled, insufferable cunt.
