How should Rossi honor SIC at valencia?

My dream wish,

How MotoGP should honor Simoncelli: Pole Position, race normal, Dad on #1 podium position and trophy presented to him. The winner of the race credited with the points and a trophy, but give the honor of the top step to his Dad.

How Rossi should honor Simoncelli: Run 58 on his bike full size, small 46 somewhere less prominent. I think the leathers and helmet thing is overstatement and a bit creepy. I think Marco would be touched if Vale ran his number full sized in front on his bike. To subdue your own number and give precedence to another racers number is symbolic gesture that I would think would be pretty sacred to any racer.

this is basically what I meant when I offered up the idea. a purely symbolic gesture.

btw rossi didnt change his number for even a title, so changing to sics holds a little extra significance

I agree.

And condolences to you, I read your GP threads alot and know you were a huge admirer of him. Hope you're holding up well.

I also think running Sics number instead of 46 could blowback bad if Vale DNFs

It's not about how he finishes, it's about honoring SIC. Vale could fine last and it wouldn't diminish the honor. He's certainly not going to finish first, so I think that matters very little.

(a bike he built mind you)

..i dunno if you heard... but Furusawa, Burgess & Rossi fabricated the parts for and assembled all of the yamaha motogp engines back in the rossi/yamaha days. so, it would probably be more accurate to say "rossi participated in the development process...."

but back on point...
This is about a friend honoring a friend.

so...rossi should run 58. that...and find a way to pass dovizioso hard on the brakes...

I understand it's about honoring him and last place would be fine but Vale has a bad habit of sending bikes flying off the track and into pieces this season.
I just think that if that happened as #58 it would be....eeerie? no?

They will leave a space on the grid just like they did for Villeneuve and Senna.
There may or may not be a minute of silence just before the start. Some may think its a bad idea because it could put the rider in a bad frame of mind. I hope there are no SIC wigs but bet there will be in the crowd.
Give him a win? I don't know about that one.
We didn't know him, Rossi did. I want to see how Rossi handles it. Whatever he does will be the right thing to do it.

The best would be to see Vale fight hard and decisively earn a win on the Ducati, built in the region of Italy both he and Sic are from and dedicating the effort to Sic. That would truly be epic.

I just hope the chase of a win doesnt push rossi to go past the limits, guy has already crashed a lot this year, lets not have another...

It would truly be a sign that Sic is up there sharing a Nastro Azzurro with the big man if Vale and Ducati pulled out a win (or even podium) here after how this season has been....

cant believe nobody will say it,

vale retire.

no disrespect but the GOAT is still on top right now even with such a disastrous year with ducati, i dont want vale to fade away like capirossi or checa etc..... a few more bad years and it may just happen, or get to a point where contracts are all signed and he would have to move to another series or F1

just saying, but i think all paddock bikes don a #58 for the weekend and the option to wear a super sic replica helmet in his honor

nobody will say it because nobody but you wants this. rossi retiring in no way would honor simoncelli. and if you think that rossi is slow now or he's lost his "edge" or whatever you're getting at, shows that you really don't know what you're talking about. furthermore, checa never faded away. in fact, he came back harder than anyone could have ever imagined. i'm not too sure you're really keeping up with this sport.

that being said, if you're trolling then you win... good job.

they could take turns spooking pedrobot and making him break his collar bone over and over again

I was actually rudely checking barf while at dinner last night (actually I was by myself drinking at the bar). Expecting some more Simo realted depression, I spit beer at the bartender after reading this!! :rofl

:thumbup

OT:
I think Sic would want everyone to race and that's it. I think a #58 on helmets/bikes would be nice.

Nothing anybody can do can possibly make up for this loss to the moto world. It's just going to take time for the pain to turn to fond memories. Such is racing, and life.:(

I have been hoping for the same thing, "missing man formation" on the pole.....

+2 in this house.

sitting up in bed on Sun night reading while the GF was sleeping on here side facing me. she calmly opened her eyes and I felt her looking at me. with a tear sliding down her nose she said "they should give him pole" and closed her eyes.

Matter of fact, an even better class act than Rossi rocking Simoncelli's helmet for the Valencia race, is for ALL of the grid to rock Simoncelli's helmet for the race. It'd be a great show of solidarity for one of their own, even from their personal helmet sponsors. Hell, their helmet sponsors (Nolan, Shoei, HJC, etc.) could even do their own Simoncelli replica for their riders.

This way it won't matter if Rossi DNF's or whatever, you'll still see Marco flying around and taking the checkered flag eventually.

They're all racers. Marco was a racer. They're all Marco.
