How to get sticker off shocks?

Wow. I never thought my question would go down this road lol. I guess that's what's great about barf!

Keep em coming...for real no pun.

Plexus! Once you start getting the hard shiny cover off just spray the area down with your plexus. I use it on stickers, old wheel weight adhesive etc. Just keep the area wet with it and work it with your fingernail (I use to have plastic razor blades but don't know where to get them anymore).
Won't hurt any plated or painted or plastic surface that I know of.
I use this stuff on everything but my tires and brake components (for obvious reasons).
Plexus, it's magic in a spray can:thumbup

The other thing you can try for removing the glue residual is duct tape. Just use it like you would for hair removal. Stick on, rub it a couple times, and pull! Repeat as necessary.

have fun boys and girls :laughing

Heat gun, gentle scraping, followed by duct tape and/or 3M Adhesive Remover (strong stuff!). When scraping I use a fingernail or a plastic paint scraper; anything more has a good chance of leaving marks.

Do stickers affect the resale value of the bike? e.g. I think my new F800GS would look better if I removed the F800GS Decals on the fake tank but then worry one day if I sell it some guy will ask why I don't have the stickers.

Only to people who are insecure weenies and need stickers that announce to the world what they bought.

Helps then justify their purchase and gives them that warm "we're part of the same tribe" feeling when they meet others who also advertise for a product they had to pay for...then again, that's most people...carry on then

Gasoline works much better than wd40. Open your tank cap and dip a clean rag in. Rub that on any remaining glue. I've tried wd40 and found it to be almost useless.

heat gun, goo-gone. Whilst we're on topic, does anyone know how to get rid
of sticker shock of new bikes :rofl

You never know, they might be a buyer in 3 years :)

I wouldn't use anything with acetate (3M), it can screw stuff up!

+1 for Goo Gone...it's not the strongest stuff, but it's reliable!

See post #23....In addition to removing stickers: Cleans your shield, painted surfaces, plated surfaces, all plastic surfaces, removes grease, bugs, etc. and leaves it all clean, shiny! All with no ill affects that I have seen in the 10 years I have ben using it. Just wish it was cheeper.

steamer. you can buy them pretty cheap. Works excellent on tint removal and same with decals and glue residue. Best part is it is just hot steam/water
