If I ride around the country which BARFers could I visit?? Retirement ride.

i will second 245 as an awesome road, among others.

there's also a roadhouse up there (near Badger) with some nice views off the deck....i haven't kept up with the changing hands, but it's some variation of "Mountain House".
Yes! Badger Mountain House. I’m pretty sure “saloon” is in the name, too. Kind of like the “Alice’s” of the central Sierra foothills. Tons of bikes there on the weekends. Great burgers and breakfasts, the owner makes delicious pies, and the bar is a fun place to sit and watch a ballgame. The very old and rustic Pinehurst Lodge further up the hill is a fun place to stop, too. Huge stone fireplace, which is always burning in the colder months, makes for a nice place to thaw out coming down the hill.

Well. Tonight I actually mentioned this kind of to the Mrs. Talking Dreams and riding me retirement. I don’t think I mentioned I had not spoke about this to MRS Budman. :teeth

I kind of take my own course here and there when I figure it is better to ask forgiveness vs ask for permission. I cringe at the thought of needing permission to do something I really want to do that is not stepping on those marriage vow toes.

This is something that needs to be shared with your partner.

She is really supportive even when she knows she would prefer whatever. Buying a Corvette 5 or so years ago is a good example. She said no.

I brought one home. After the initial WTF it was all good.

So I was watching a moto traveling vid tonight and saying how much I have been enjoying them and having bitchen dreams and I am looking forward to retiring so I can go explore.

She was of course like where,,, how long..?

I explained that I want to see the national parks and do some of the stuff that she is not interested in. Nothing super negative.

She said I would like to get an Air BNB in So cal on the beach and bring the dogs invite that Fam etc.

I was 100% in and said doing that for a couple weeks would be sweet
… it is in the list!

The I said I will need support when traveling by sending clothes care packages to Motels so I don’t have to waste a bunch of time washing clothes and :blah

Probably once every ten days or so.

She smiled and said sure because like me doing things to make my partner happy makes me happy. She was pleasantly engaged. :thumbup

First step taken.

I will work up to the 3 months conversation. 😜

Maybe fly home once or twice if I get a big push back.

Basically as far as I am concerned I got a green light and that makes me happy. :laughing

Be Careful. When the daughter moved to Switzerland I said I wanted to rent a small bike like a Vstrom. She said have fun and she would stay with the daughter in Basel CH. I started planning and all of a sudden the wife said you know that sounds like fun. Well the Vstrom changed to an RT and we have now make 3 trips around the Alps.

Another option that I have found simple is to just do laundry either at a laundry or hand washing in a sink.

In moments of need sure. But well planned and a woman that loves me and wants to support the adventure is to priceless to pass up.

Time to get back into this since I have some time.
Figuring on watching some aerial America shows on a lot of the south up to east coast etc where I might want to see. Watching Maryland and Delaware was pretty informative.

Good call.
All The Aerial shows are fantastic. (America, Cities, China, etc...)
They're so good you almost don't need to go anywhere.

I'm assuming you'll be doing this next spring, because it's already too late to come to Idaho if you want to ride the good twisty roads in the hills. It has started to snow up there.

2026 is the 100th Anniversary of Route 66

I've been to 46 states, worked from a week to a month in over 30.

My suggestions as they come to memory:
Montana: Going-to-the-Sun Road. Stay in the Many Glacier Hotel on the East side of the mountains near the Canadian Border and Glacier National Park.
Washington: I like Seattle. My favorite restaurant in the U.S. is there - The Wild Ginger. Spokane rocks too. Harry's Produce Market is awesome.
Arizona: Chandler's pretty cool as is wine country in Jerome and Prescott.
Ohio: Cedar Point in Sandusky. Soiling underwear even before R1's. Ride something more scary than your prize motorcycle with Gary J. (R.I.P.) at the wheel!
Colorado: Denver or Boulder
Oregon: Bend, near Mt. Bachelor. Brookings by the sea. I like Portand, despite Agent Orange's (U.S. President in Commode) ugly remarks. Each quadrant is different. EDR Racing is there and Eric Dorn, a BARF member I believe, would offer a great tour. Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens to start.
Michigan: Ann Arbor, Detroit, Pentwater and Charlevoix are cool. Upper Peninsula: Soo Locks in Sault (pronounced 'Soo') Saint Marie.
NY: Manhattan (just walk it). I stayed at the Milford Plaza Hotel on 8th Ave and 54th but NYU area is cool too. Brooklyn is soulful. Buffalo is historically much like Detroit and near the St. Lawrence Seaway. Amherst for Great Skate Hockey Store.
Alabama: Barber Motorsports Museum (DUH!!! lol)
Georgia: Savannah - art and fashion
Florida: Dive the Loo Key, St. Augustine (Salvador Dali Museum), Ybor City (Tampa) Cuban food extraordinaire.
Texas: I liked Austin (Sixth Street, Antone's) and Houston (Party on the Plaza).
Illinois: Chicago. Travel north on Lake Shore drive at dusk as the lights come on, look left right before the curve. Architectural Master Piece of skyline.
Iowa:... ..... ..... Roseanne's house? Cop cars painted the same color as grain? (sneaky....)
Nevada: I like South Lake Tahoe. Harrah's has an awesome roof top breakfast buffet. John Harrah's a cool dude and you may see him. Loves speed like us.
Vermont: Ben and Jerry's
New Hampshire: Fall is best. Watch your bike on the slippery leaves.
Maine: Portland. If the H.S. Boy's National Track Championship is in Augusta, beware!
NJ: I like Wildwood
KY: I'd head over to Owensboro and visit the Haydens, maybe time it for the Louisville Mile Dirt Track Race.
MO: Awesome food! Downtown K.C. I stayed at the Historic Suites. Fountains everywhere in that city. Jess and Jim's Steakhouse is unrivaled.
KS: Olathe Boot Factory. Cowboy boots for the Lemmy or hair metal front man in you.
ID: Coeur D'Alene and its affiliated Lake Pend Oreille. Lake Trout and Pike over 30 pounds!
WY: Jackson Hole is cool
AK: I love Anchorage and everything South on the Seward Highway. Hike Bird Ridge near Beluga Point if you can make it to the top.... do your cardio!

That's a start....

Very nice MJ. I had a couple of your suggestions listed for my trip in May. (y)
