I'm down unda, bitches.

OMG.

On the ferry coming over there were dozens of bikes. I met a man from Sacramento who was here with a tour put on by the British company Beaches. They'll be here a full two weeks. I wish I'd devoted more time to NZ. Guess I'll have to come back.

I took lots of pictures today. I'll see about getting them uploaded soon.

Beach has a resident New Zealander, Al, that showed me around the mountain at the Isle of Man. I’m sure by April you’ll have me wanting Al to show me around New Zealand :thumbup. Good on ya for being in touch with the local fauna!

I look at your pictures showing sun and warmth. Then I look out the window at rain...again....and cry.

Mad

I'm currently pretty damn wet. From hanmer springs took Lewis pass to Westport. I had some soup then headed to hokitika. It was misting or raining the entire way down. The vegetation was otherworldly and the views.... Omg. My camera battery died a few hours ago but I did get quite a few pictures.

Fuck! So... Spent the day getting nailed by rain. Rainforest rain. Unrelenting. Stopped in haast for a meal. Made a booking in Wanaka. Rode through more rain. Arrived at my accommodation to be told that due to a glitch in the system I had no room and none are available in town because of a festival that's happening. So I raced to Cromwell in the dwindling light to see what I could find.

I pulled into a motel and was told it's full. My eyes started raining at that point (I'm cold, tired, soaked, it's dark) and the innkeeper found me a spot. I'm feeling better already.

That had to suck... rain is one thing, but no place to crash??

Glad it worked out. Hoping for sunshine for you!

Been following this thread, partly out of nostalgia and then I saw this pic and thought, hey I've been to that exact spot:)

Glad you got a room, keep on trucking:ride

Thanks Matty. I discovered my bed had a heated mattress pad. It was glorious!!! I slept very well. I guess I was pretty tired.
Yesterday was beautiful. The rain created hundreds of waterfalls that were gushing from the steep mountains, which seem to ride straight up in places. The rivers were a beautiful glacial blue. The colors of this island are pure magic.

When you are back in Wellington and craving Mexican, a Nor Cal ex-pat has a crackin good spot...

Nice!!! I'm staying in lower Hutt before I go to Oz.

Glad you found some sunshine today!!! :ride

I rode from Cromwell to Queenstown, which reminds me of como. The mountains were truly majestic. After hitting the servo and getting a flat white I boogied back to Cromwell and headed towards kurow by way of the dansey's pass. Wow wow wow. So pretty.
