Innovv C3 camera testing- motorcycle dashcam

Nice effort. Need 120fps at 1080p.

That would be nice, but seems nobody else is making that besides GoPro, which has a lot of other downsides. I think 30fps at 1080p is fine for a dashcam setup.

30 fps works just fine for me as a dashcam, I can pull very clear still shots if I ever need a license plate and the video quality is very nice.
The big upsides to the C3 is that you can permanently mount it to your bike and the lens is barely noticeable, it has auto on and off setting and can run from bike power with adapter also right now with the group buy you can get one for around $114 for a 90° model.
It's not a replacement for a Gopro if you want to shoot super slow mo cinema quality footage to capture your daily commute but there's no way I'm gonna mount 2 $200-$400 Gopro's to my bike and leave them there while I'm at work and I'm probably not going to remember to turn them on every time either :laughing

^This.

I'm purely interested in a CYA camera that I can install discretely and leave on the bike.... a "set it and forget it" arrangement.

No charging of batteries, changing of memory cards, remembering to start recording, etc. I don't need 120fps@1080p to capture my boring commute :laughing

I saw one of these on line last night and thought maybe it might make a decent cheap weather resistant case for the recoding unit.
Clear plastic mailing tube with vinyl end caps

I stopped at a hardware store on the way back from work today and found them 1.25 inch in diameter and 12 inches long for a whopping $1.45
The caps fit night and snug and are flexible and the tube is flexible too. It flexes into an oval shape with the recoding unit in it and I poked a couple of holes in the caps for the cords and did some length trimming with scissors.

It's a quick first try but it can be made shorter still and I think that with some liquid electrical tape or some silicone to seal the cable holes even better it will protect the unit as long as I don't end up underwater for an extended period of time:D

*LAST CALL* Payment and orders due by 11pm PST tonight

When hardwiring the camera to the bike, did you tap directly into a switched 5v source, or did you tap to a switched 12v line with a cigarette socket adapter, and use the 12v to 5v USB adapter?

Just finished hardwiring mine to the bike tonight. I guess the ADV beak does have a purpose. Routed the camera cable past the headlight assembly and drilled a hole in the interior fairing to route it underneath the bodywork with the recording unit under the seat. Ended up tapping one of the switched 12v lines that comes on as soon as the key is in ignition so it'll keep recording even if I get hit hard enough by a car to shut off the engine... again. :laughing

I went with a 64GB card. It seems to take just fine. I'll find out whether or not it's using the full 64GB eventually or if it stops at 32GB.

Played with the timelapse setting at 5 seconds per second and it seems to be recording a little more than 1GB per hour. Going to record an ironbutt to Vegas and back with this setup and see how it turns out. Should be interesting.

Tested it on normal recording speed too, and it seems to work fine. The picture looks slightly blue outdoors, but I can't complain all that much because it can still reproduce all the colors pretty accurately.

Definitely would recommend this camera.

Finished setting up my innovv camera setup on my bike earlier today.

Has anybody having difficulties with the power off function under loop video mode? I have connected the innovv recording unit to a 12v cigarette to usb adapter via car cable (the long wired cable).

When I turn on bike power, the innovv camera automatically turns on and starts recording. (normal) But when bike power is off; the innovv switches to internal battery power and the led keeps flashing slowly. I wait for a few seconds and turn bike power on; and no changes / led still flashing. (Upon inserting the memory card into the computer, no new video files are created aside from the original one) I made sure to follow OP's instructions in regards to the config setup & power off delay is set at 30 sec.

In single video recording; the innovv camera performs as it should: when main bike power is on; innovv camera turns on and begins recording. Bike power off; innovv camera turns off; and rinse and repeat.

I just want the camera to power off when bike power is off and resume recording when bike power is on under loop video recording mode. I hope all of this makes sense. lol

If that's the settings that you are using then you have to change the ''autopoweroff=none''
setting to one of the following: autopoweroff=30s / 60s / 120s.
"none'' means it will not turn the camera off when the power is cut.

Hope that helps

Hey Willy, thanks for responding. My mistake, those settings listed above were outdated and I think I did select 30sec for power off delay. Just to verify, I went thru the config procedures once again and here's the updated settings below.

Same results I'm afraid, under loop video mode; when main bike power is on; innovv camera turns on and begins recording. When bike power is off; red led continues to flash indefinitely. I have to manually press the on / off button for 3 sec to turn off innovv camera.

Were you able to utilize loop video mode with no issues?

Loop with auto off does work .

Try and reload the firmware into the camera
Here's the download link
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ulk9aclbfh1yzck/FWC3.bin?dl=0

Procedure for updating firmware when the camera is installed on your bike:
After downloading the file FWC3.bin follow these instructions exactly.
Remove the memory card from the camera and put it in your computer and erase the DCIM folder.
Copy the FWC3.bin file to your memory card.
Remove the card from your computer and put it back in the camera with the camera turned off and no power to it.
Make sure that the lens cable is attached and turn your bike power on to the point that the power is applied to the camera and leave it on.
You will see a series of flashing green led flashes,DO NOT TURN OFF THE POWER WHILE THE GREEN LED IS FLASHING
After the green led stops your ready to go, your previous settings have not been changed so no need to reload them.

I was able to loop. I have mine set to no delay on power-off. When reviewing the video, the recording actually stops at the point when I turn off the ignition.

The red light flashes for about 10 seconds or so on battery power while it saves the file or figures out if it needs to erase an old file to loop it. It kind of puzzled me at first but it does turn off on its own and it's not actually recording anything at that point.

Just got back from an Ironbutt ride at 2am this morning. Here's the video... 1000+ miles in 10 minutes. I wonder if there's a way to play around with the white balance on the next firmware update. Sometimes it appears perfectly fine, other times it looks bluish.

Youtube compression doesn't do the quality any justice. The raw file has much less pixelation.

Now... back to my massage chair.

Thanks Inner Nerd for chiming in. It's puzzling to me that single video mode works normally but loop video mode does not. Under loop mode, after I turn off the bike's ignition; the red led continues to flash indefinitely and doesn't turn off until I manually do it. (I have my config settings set to 30 sec power off delay) I actually bought two innovv camera systems and they both exhibit the same loop problem! Bad batch perhaps? Oh well, I'm going to take it to PM and I'm 100% confident Willy will help me resolve this.

Cool ironbutt vid! I always wanted to do something like that.... I'm also impressed with how well the video looks at night... all I see with my contour is black graininess noise lol
