Innovv C3 camera testing- motorcycle dashcam

Innovv C3 camera mount for Kawasaki Ninja 250r (08-12)

Just thought I'd share this mount with you guys. I designed it in Sketchup and printed it on my Da Vinci 3D printer. It uses the existing hole that is present on the fender. The C3 is almost exactly the same size as the hole! The adapter will fit the barrel of the C3 quite snug so it won't turn.

I uploaded the file to Thingiverse if anyone is interested in printing their own.

This is a simple camera mount for the Innovv C3 to fit the 2008-2012 Kawasaki Ninja 250r motorcycle. It's designed to fit on the stock rear fender. The stock fender has 3 holes, and the center hole is practically the same size as the diameter of the C3 bullet camera. It seemed like a logical place to put it.

The New FM and GUI released on 2015 03 03

Click below link and move to the bottom of the page, find the downloadable files source,
http://www.innovv.com/#!the-c3/ckmf

Click the file, C3 FW &GUI _20150303 to download.

The last updated the FW and GUI included.

Updating process,
Unzip the file, you can see two files,
1. FWC3.bin
2. C3-GUI Configuration Utility

If you do not need change anything, connect the camera to computer and put FWC3.bin to the root of SD card, and power on camera, the red LED blink till off.

If you want to have custom settings, like your logo on video, the video length or others,
a) connect the camera to computer and put FWC3.bin to the root of SD card, and
b) open C3-GUI Configuration Utility and make setting per your preference, and save it to camera.

Power on camera, you can see first Red LED blink, then Green LED blink till LED off, both FW and GUI updating finished.

Please be sure, the lens should plug into recording unit.
If lens installed on bike, you can take the SD card from recording unit and insert it to computer, save the FW and GUI files to the root of SD card, insert the SD card into camera again, power it on, it will update accordingly till LED off.

The process is simple and easy.

The C3 GUI settings

Received message from people,
On the GUI Configuration Utility, add the ability to Open (read) a saved configuration file. I believe another reader has mentioned this as well. Sure, we can read a saved configuration file with a text editor, but some users may prefer to use the GUI utility only. The ability to open and view, and potentially modify and re-save a configuration file via the GUI would be beneficial.

Thanks for Bob from 2kool4u, he makes this idea happen,
Download GUI from below link,
http://2kool4u.com/minicams/Ez_Configuration_C1.shtml

His Innovv apps already have the ability to read last saved config file using the "Configuration File Tab" you can see your last saved settings there...then modify settings and re-save...each time the "save to camera" button is pressed it updates and saves the new settings in this window...:laughing:laughing:laughing

When I copy the file to the SD card, after I turn on the camera, it starts recording, and the LED does not flash green, when I check the SD card, the FW3.bin file is no longer there. Is there a way for me to check what version of the firmware is installed?

Not so steathly install but got it nicely hard wired to the bike. Actually the USB adapter is hard wired and I just used the computer USB cable.

A little messy under the passenger seat

I put the recorder in my tool box next to the battery

Pretty convenient, will try to see if there is a better mounting location.

Yes, you can check the recording base on the firmware updating log.
For this last update, there is not time and stamp on the video in default setting.
So you can see if the last Firmware has been successfully installed.

Follow below instruction and try it accordingly, the LED will flash Green for upgrading.

Copy the FW to root of the SD card, Turn on the camera, the first is LED flash Green for upgrading, then LED flash red for recording. :)

That's exactly what I did, but when I turn on the camera, it goes straight to flashing red. No green flash at all.

Realized that the lens is just a little smaller then a replyxd camera and liked their low profile mount which is what you see. The low profile mount that comes with this system the indentation wasnt friendly...

Need to spend some time to find other decent mounting locations

So my C3 seems to have killed my Micro SD card. I pulled out the card to check a video and my computer can no longer read it. I tried it in several computers and with several card adapters and it seems the card is toast. It was a Sandisk Ultra SDXC 64GB card. Not sure if it being > 32GB had anything to do with it. It's under warranty at least so I can send it back to Sandisk for replacement. I have used the card previously with my GoPro and Contour Roam without issue.

MicroSD goes bad more often in my experience. I have had around three go bad in the last few years. One of the little stupid F-ers went bad on a cruise through the Panama Canal.

We have many SandDisk cards testing C3 daily, Plug them in the C3 and pull them out, recording in 10 minutes or 24 hours, that have been recorded over thousands times, till now these cards are till working well. No issue fund.

Review recordings on mobile phone by OTG cable

So, I think I finally got the firmware to update. The only way I could see the blinking green light is when I switched to an 8GB MicroSD card, I had been using a 64GB card prior to this.
