• ZERO- WHERE DID MY AD GO?
    • It has likely been deleted for running egregiously afoul of the rules below. Feel Free to try again

1- DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SELL THE FOLLOWING ON BARF:
    • animals, though free re-homing is ok.
    • anything illegal.
    • drugs, legal or not.

2- Sellers, for best results... please read and follow these instructions:

    • Asking price [MANDATORY] in the BODY ONLY. DO NOT PUT PRICE IN THE TITLE
      • motorcycle or other vehicle:
        - make [MANDATORY]
        - model [MANDATORY]
        - year [MANDATORY]
        - Pictures [FIRST THING THAT WILL BE ASKED FOR IF YOU DON'T, BUT NOT MANDATORY]
        - mileage
        - title info
        - current condition
        - maintenance history
        - accident history
        - location
      • If selling riding gear, include:
        - size in the title of the thread. [MANDATORY]
        - in your post, include: intended gender/body weight/height/inseam/waist range that best fits the item.

    • Do not include the price in the title. You won't be able to edit it later. Put the price in the body of your post.
    • DO NOT INCLUDE LINKS TO 3RD PARTY SALES SITES Copy/paste your ad to BARF and make sure it includes the info above.
    • Edit your original post and change the price there... many buyers will not look beyond that point if you change the price later on further into the thread. Also, remember to add SOLD to first line of the first post when the item has been sold.
    • Please use the "Report this post to a moderator" (
      report.gif
) option at the lower left portion of the post if item is sold or to report erroneous posts or threads, and it will be taken care of.
    • With any indication that an item is sold, the thread will be locked by moderators. It is not fair to other valid ads to be pushed down the list when side discussions bump a sold ad to the top of the list. Moderators will do their best in changing the title and adding a 'sold' to the beginning of the title to save a few clicks for others.

    3- Buyers, BEWARE!!!

    • Pricing - Know the current market value of the bike. Check Kelly Blue book, NADA, CycleTrader, Ebay, Craigslist (even though some people on Craigslist are asking non-realistically high prices and will never be able to sell the bike at their asking price), and know what the current market value of a similar bike is before considering a purchase. Consider the maintenance work or fixes that YOU need to do to the bike, and factor that into the price. It is ok to pay more for a bike that has had all of the maintenance work done to it recently, or pay less and get a bike that needs some work, but you must know this in advance and be ok with it.
    • Inspecting the bike: if you are not experienced yourself, have a mechanic or an experienced friend check the bike before making a purchase. Crashed bikes:This is even more important if you are buying a bike that is being sold at a cheaper price with damages that the buyer is required to fix. In these cases, doing a frame check that will show any frame/fork/geometry damages is HIGHLY recommended. Do NOT simply rely on the information that the seller is providing, even he/she may not be aware of all the problems. Have the crashed bike checked and know what you are getting into.
    • Clean title, Salvage title A clean title doesn't mean the bike is free of serious issues. A Salvaged title doesn't mean the bike may have any problems. Every case is different. Some bikes are seriously damaged in a crash, but an insurance claim is never made on them, so they still have a clean title. Some bikes have had mostly cosmetic damages in a crash, but the insurance company decided to pay off the bike and salvage the title rather than spending the money to fix it. Know what you are getting into and don't make any assumptions based on what the seller is telling you.
    • Registration: Know about the current registration status of the bike. Check with DMV if you have any questions about any possible back fees and other title/registration questions (out of state title, no title with bill of sales only, etc.) before purchasing the bike.
    • Some additional tips: You can find some more useful info here: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216958

4- DO NOT make your opinion known in the seller's ad

    • Comments within a sale thread should be on topic and educational. Aggressive critiques and inside jokes will not be tolerated. Constructive dialogue is a valuable feature of the barf classifieds section and community as a whole. Flame wars and unsubstantiated accusations help neither seller or buyer. Don't fuck it up, because the next step is disabling the "reply" feature entirely.
    • If you disagree with a price, keep it to yourself. The seller has set the price. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move on. If you really feel strongly about it, then PM the seller.
    • If you are interested in an item, feel free to PM, email or contact the seller privately. Feel free to post if you need clarification... however, your post should be in line with above mentioned rules.
    • If you are aware of a serious issue with an ad (SPAM, stolen goods, a frame damaged bike being advertised as a 'never crashed' bike, etc.) please PM a moderator about it.

5- DO NOT SPAM the classifieds section on BARF

    • Spamming entails using only the classifieds sections of BARF without taking part in other sections of BARF (regardless of whether the ad is for a personal item or a business.) The appeal of BARF classifieds is to enable and connect BARFers with some established history on BARF to one another.

BARF isn't craigslist, ebay, cycletrader, etc. Buyers who are looking to buy from random strangers do so on one of the above mentioned sites. Those who only post in Classifieds sections and don't take part in other parts of BARF are no different than any other random sellers on Craigslist, etc., and should use channels other than BARF to try and sell their items.
    • If you're affiliated with a store/shop, please contact budman regarding sponsorship options. ALL non-sponsor commercial posts will be deleted. Site sponsors should post using only one account that is assigned a BARF SPONSOR tag.
    • We encourage the use of the classifieds by active contributing members. New members may post in the Classifieds forum after establishing minimal history on BARF (15 days and 15 posts). If you actively attempt to circumvent these minimum requirements only to post in classifieds, your account may be suspended. After reaching these minimums, posting only in the classifieds without taking part in other sections of BARF may result in being banned from BARF.

6- DO NOT repost funny/strange/not-related-to-you ads from Craigslist or elsewhere on BARF or anywhere else for that matter.
    • No reposting
    • No reposting
    • No reposting. If what you're about to post isn't for sale BY YOU, don't post it.

    7- SELLING FOR A FRIEND:
    • Is not allowed.

    8- Feeler, Testing Waters etc:
    • Is no longer allowed.

      • If you are unsure of the fair price of your item, use the search function to research other similar items, ebay, craigslist, nadaguides, kelly blue book or whatever else is applicable. The classifieds section is not a discussion forum, thus not the place to be asking for opinions on market value that might lead to massive gray areas of conversation that violate preceding rules outlined above.
  • There has been a recent cluster of spammers accessing BARFer accounts and posting spam. To safeguard your account, please consider changing your password. It would be even better to take the additional step of enabling 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) on your BARF account. Read more here.

iPhone Unlocking Service

If you upgrade let me know I will take that phone off your hands :teeth well as long you are not contracted far east agian.

The only thing holding back the 3g from the iPhone is the battery life. Every iPhone user out there knows that battery life can be a problem.

Hey real.. How do I install a .app file manually (without using Installer). I already got SSH installed and can access via SFTP but when I drag into the applications folder, it always errors out on some .png file and wont show after restart... any ideas?

Depends on your version firmware.

If you are running 1.1.2 or later, you might need to replace the lockdown and services.plist files in order to drag any .app into the phone (successfully.)

Not to ruin your business, but as of tomorrow anyone should be able to load custom app's

http://theiphoneproject.org/b/macosx/iphonepwned/

Looked into it months ago and been following it.

A few things -

-MAC OSX is required to use that program
-Should something go wrong, say you destroy the baseband, do you honestly know what you are going to do if you just used a one-touch program?
-It does not show you how to SSH into your iPhone and modify the directory, to add custom apps that do not show up on the Installer.app
-Programs like that have been available for ages, this one just happens to be the first where you can change the IPSW with one button. But, just because you can unlock your phone, does not mean the EDGE settings (Internet) will work with your provider of your choice: There are dozens of phone companies around the globe that uses SIM cards and provides mobile internet. You must know how to get the correct settings for that specific phone company AND service plan they have (example: T-Mobile w\ the 5.99 T-Zone plan.

This list can go on. I understand you aren't trying to take away my business, but this is nothing new, and the same reasons why people would have me or any other highly experienced person unlock\hack their phone for them still apply.

Oh and for the record, that specific program you linked has been delayed due to legal problems.

I don't use the internet much on Iphone but ATT said I need to have the data plan in order to use the phone. Tired of paying that extra 20 dollars a month for data plan. Could you make my phone work without the data plan?

It's a waste of money to have an iPhone without a data plan.

If you have a SIM from another phone, and you get your iPhone unlocked, you can use the phone without a data plan. But unless you cancel your existing service and pay the cancellation fee, you will still be charged for that cell and data plan.

But can I tell them I no longer have an Iphone and now using a regular phone and want to cancel the data plan. Then switch the sim from the regular phone to the unlock iphone. Will that work.

Not sure if it's that easy, but I suppose it will work.

you signed a two-year commitment when you got cell service for the iPhone, I believe? If so, you can just break your service contract which will cost you $175, which is 9 months of $20 data service.

Correct. Most people that do not want the data plan usually unlock their phones and never buy the iPhone plan in the first place. In your case, it's best to wait out your contract.

Hey still havent heard anything back. I'd like to get my iphone unlocked asap.

Sorry, I have been busy the passed couple of weeks, and have been staying home from school\work this passed week. I just had my wisdom teeth taken out a few days ago, but it was different from other procedures.. Appearantly my bottom right wisdom tooth had 4 roots instead of the normal 2 roots. The dentist had to literally crack my tooth into 4 pieces while the tooth was still in my mouth. The anesthesia was not strong enough, either. I felt every crack and tug on that tooth.

Long story short, I haven't eaten an actual meal in 4 days and cannot even fit my helmet on me cause of the ungodly swelling. And to make matters worse, my car did not pass smog this time around so I cannot drive\ride anywhere. I am taking appointments again, earliest is this Friday, April 25 from 11AM - 3PM.

Again sorry for the wait for the few I had to postpone.

WTF $100 or even $40 to unlock?

Google is your friend don't pay a freaking penny to do something that can be done at home so easily. what's wrong with people trying to make money!?

PM Me, Come to me I will do it for free

Like I said earlier, I do it for people who do not feel like jailbreaking\unlocking their phone on their own, even if the information is right in front of their face. I'm assuming you do all the work on your car and motorcycle, since the information is right there on google.

And I have been doing this since August '07, and have made more money in a week than I made at my previous part time job in a month.

I'm a college student finding ways to pay for gas and bills, and if this is the way to make money while taking on 19 units, then so be it.

Don't you dare criticize how I make my own money. There are much more intolerable acts out there you can do to make money.

Oh and the whole $100 thing, it was supposed to be a parody of those blue-background sales commercials.

I am so doing this if the new iPhone still won't be available on TMobile. I hate AT&T's ripoff rates and refuse to leave TMobile. Only reason I haven't bought an iPhone yet.

might be hard to unlock the new 3g iphones. from what i read, you can't just buy the phone and take it home anymore. you have to sign up for a plan at either the apple store or at&t store in order for you to take it home.

and its $30 for the 3g data plan...and thats w/o text messages!

Yep...

Some people claim that they can already jailbreak the upcoming firmware 2.0.

It will be a bit of a challenge to actually unlock the next phone, but I think it can be figured out within a week of the phone's release, then be released to the public by that dev a couple weeks after that.

The hardest part will be getting people to buy an iPhone just to unlock it - since you are now forced to buy a 2 year contract with AT&T, a lot of people will be turned off....

But if you think about it, the cost of the new iPhone (8GB) will be $199. Canceling your old T-mobile plan would be around 175 - 200 depending on your contract agreement. That totals out to $375, which is still cheaper than the previous 8GB iPhone of 399.99.. It will be interesting to see how many people will catch on to this and make the switch to AT&T.
