Is 60,000 miles too many for a bike?

It's a BMW. It's not even 1.5 years old. If you maintain it well, I bet it passes 100k with ease.

Though, you may want to re-evaluate your choices, depending on your life situation & transportation needs. 60k miles on a BMW is more expensive than 60k miles on a Kawasaki single. Of course, if operating costs are not important to you, ignore what I just said.

Andy, it's less than half of what I have on the K1200GT. You should be good for another 80k. Just don't expect anyone to be interested in buying it.

It's not too hard. Hell I put over 100k on my last car in under 2 years. I would do that on my bike now but my commute is super short and I don't have to travel for work.

I buy any factory parts i need from Walnut Creek, those guys are awesome :thumbup. Service I do in my driveway. This is by far the easiest bike to work on I've had.
 
BMWs aren't broken in until the first 100,000. You've got a ways to go before you should start to open her up and see what she'll do. Just keep babyin' her for a little longer.

How do you figure? The only thing more expensive is brake pads, maybe tires. That KawaTractor would've gone through 2-3 chains by now.

Actually, little as Andy stops, he might still be on his original brakes.

I changed out the original pads somewhere around 45k miles. They had a lot of life left but I was prepping for the IBR and better to be safe than sorry.
I do maintenance on the bike by the book or before. I do all the work on the bike myself so shop costs aren't a factor.

Ok, to be fair I wasn't thinking of consumables. I was thinking of crap-I-punched-a-hole-in-my-engine repairs

(I think like this because I am prone to those sorts of repairs :teeth)
 
there's a bunch of guys running the ZRX's that are in the 100K club, several in the 200K club, & at least a couple in the 300K club. One of them has only had regular-scheduled maintenance & replacement of worn parts (brake pads, clutches, etc.) & he's at 350K+! Wowsers! He loves to rub it in too: bought his bike (1100) f/$2K, & rides it all over the country continually (adventure tourer.) Would be nice...
