Is BARF an Old Guy forum

Where is your picture from your prime, you Old Fart? :twofinger

(We are actually the same age)

The truth is, I wish I could post some old pics. I had albums full of great stuff. The pics I wish I still had the most were those of my kids. I never thought to *back them up* when I had the chance only to later watch them disappear in the divorce.
I'm envious of pictures like the one you posted.
Very nice shot. :thumbup

Wow. So sorry to hear that!

Any possibility of getting copies, or was/is it that bad?

They gave those out to way too many people. :)

Says the person who HAS one :x humph lol

What I noticed is, if you joined anytime in 2002 you got the tag. Missed it by thhhaaaat much (/maxsmart)

Just another day late, dollar short thing for me. I know it's stupid and doesn't mean much, but it'd still be neat to have. Stupid life :laughing

Don't feel bad, despite all of my posts I've never got the Top Percent Poster tag. :twofinger :laughing

I've tried, trust me.
The response is "I don't know where they are."
At this point I tend to believe her. We get along fine now but she's still a mess.

I've got a boot box that has all of my pictures over the years (before digital photos), my kids love going through those pictures every few years. They just got some more this past summer from my mom of me when I was a kid, my youngest daughter is scanning them and sending them on to her siblings.

I know all too well about about exes and how messy it can be. I hope that some day the pictures turn up for you.

A similar thing happened to me. I had my old moto racing stuff in an album and I kept that of course. Then for Christmas my Mom gave me a photo album with tons of pictures of my kids and me from my youth and younger years. What a treasure it was and she was. I honestly cried looking at it... such an awesome gift. She was honorable enough to not include the X - wife in the pictures too.

Being in a second marriage that was super kind of her. :love

You've got a great family, Budman, I could see that when I saw you with your kids and their families at the AFM races. Everything starts with the family and the rest follows. :thumbup

Those memories are definitely important to us, but even more so is for the kids to get a better picture of where we came from, especially as there was far less opportunities to preserve it than there is now.

Thanks Brett...

sorry for the thread diversion here all but I love this pic.

My oldest daughter (lower right) bought my Dad Halloween candy and said that his great grandkids were coming over on Halloween. He was miffed that he now had to work handing out candy.

But my daughter insisted because of the family being out T /T'ing together.:thumbup

Only my two oldest GK's did not go cause they are too cool to dress up as teenagers..:laughing

My son being the blind referee cracks me up :rofl

Both my boys sky over my Dad and Me too. Not exactly moto racer size dudes. :laughing

28 here.

Facebook groups have younger riders.

Forums are almost a relic from 'back in the day', and so mostly have older people.

I ride with a few different groups and BARF/GroupRides definitely have the oldest average age. Younger people seem to organize via Facebook or just texting a couple people they know that ride and setting up a small group thing.

Dear lord make it stop! Time compression.

Yesterday Johnson was president, I was enrolling to fight on the winning side in the war on drugs, I liked the Rolling Stones better than the Beatles and I knew I needed a CB 750 to make my life complete.

Today my grandkids know all the words to all the Beatle songs, I have a garage tote full of pipes and papers, some guy who brags about the size of his johnson is president and I still think a CB 750 would complete the picture.

But I digress. My first serious road appliance was an airhead R/75. Forums? Don't have a toga.

I am not old, compared to the 90 year olds I know.

But compared to those milenariums and zee generation (Phone to Face Generation) I am a relic of as bygone era.
I am 66.
In fact, I can remember when you could go to the Triumph Motorcycle dealer on Broadway at 30 th street, and sit on those 700 Bonnevilles. "Hey, what are you kids doing on that bike; get the hell out of here!"

speaking as a 29yr old thats been active riding for 15+ years and worked in a couple bike shops i can only speak of what ive seen.

1) yes there is a risk aversion factor
2) yes the cost of motorcycling is high (add that to the high cost of living in the area and you see we are broke as sh*t already)
3) there are much more active social media options(none better IMO)
4) like budman said the way that some people are spoken to on here for asking question can be misunderstood as demeaning (haven't come across that as much here as other forums and social media outlets) and it turns a massive amount of people off from wanting to get more involved

I could probably go on and on and on talking about this because its sad to see, but who knows it could turn around!

BARF is pretty civilized, .... just last week I joined a forum to discuss a specific bike I am interested in. I had a simple question and comment about my interest in having adequate ground clearance. The first reply I got was a left handed inventory of my poor riding skills. I was like "Wow, did he really say that?" Anyway....
I get the political annoyances, too. But am guilty of "response" trolling here, too, when someone tries to make a Motorcycle Post in to a screed about "Libtards" or "Nazis" I feel it's my job to jump in and antagonize the offenders.

I typically just feel like an asshole for doing it, so I try to be restrained, unless of course my ice crystals are totally triggered...

But all things considered BARF is a National Treasure. So there!

I just bought a BMW R1200 GSA that I swear years ago I never would have thought I'd be owning. Can you guess my age? Good thing my Pacific Islander heritage doesn't show my actual age.

Are you tall enough for one of those being a Pacific Islander :rofl? In all seriousness I don't know how tall you are, I just watched a youtube video last night of a guy who was only 5'-4" tall who rides one, his channel is Roda Roda. I've been looking at one for myself and get a bit nervous about the seat height and I'm 5'-10". I sat on the Africa Twin at the normal height and felt uncomfortable.

I never thought I'd consider a R1200 GS myself and wasn't sure if it was my age that is making it appealing, I've been looking pretty seriously at one for commuting mostly.
