Is the Yamaha MT-09 the best heavy-middle weight naked bike?

Gotcha. the FTR's come pretty well equipped and with the S version, I'm thinking they maybe would rather move a rider to the next spec up the line. What they SHOULD do is sell them an ECU that's not as notch as the current one is. Have to budget $500 to get Loyds to tune the thing.

I'd pick a Tuono, but although I loved my aprillia - I love riding more.

Get a Japanese motorcycle. They keep running while the euro*** bikes wait on expensive parts and/or service.

I put a couple hundred miles on the MT09 so figured I would give my thoughts so far...

The engine is awesome and crazy fun! I can't think there is a better engine for a street bike. Power and torque in all the right places. Smooth as butter. Very easy to ride, but turns into a rocket the more you twist the throttle. I've been trying to keep the revs down for break in, but still very impressed.

Handling seems very precise, but I haven't been able to take it out on a proper ride in the twisties yet (life always gets in the way). I would like a pro to adjust the suspension soon. If anyone has a recommendation in the Sac area it would be appreciated.

Why have I waited so long for a bike with a quick shifter?! :party

Ergonomics are very good, this bike "fits" me well. Upper body is leaned over a little bit. Legs have a relaxed bend. Seat is pretty good. I feel more comfortable on this bike than on my Versys (except for wind protection).

Obviously there is no wind protection. I ordered a Puig windscreen that should be delivered next week. It might take me a while to get used to a naked bike again.

I've only done boring practical mods so far. Added a USB plug, which was super easy as the bike is pre-wired for one. Added a RAM phone mount and put on my tank bag.

Massive congratulations!! Having a toy in the garage is so much fun. Hope you get to ride it a lot soon.

Do the MT09's have autoblip up/down w/ the QS?

That's cool...sounds like a pretty darn perf upper-middleweight upright.
