It's REAL, you doubting b!tches... Honda RCV1000 v4 street bike

Yeah, I hope no one is under any delusions that this machine is in any way attainable.

It will be rare as hen's teeth and guys like Kaming Ko are going to prevent us all from ever getting a sniff.

It will cost you significantly less to deal with any "issues" on an Ape.

".....each bike, expected to cost around £150,000, will be sold with an HRC exhaust and ECU that will not only boost power but increase the noise level too.....

.....Little is known about the Asama Hillclimb event outside of Japan but this tight and twisty track uses public roads.....There is no official information about the ride and it doesn’t appear the bike was ridden competitively on the ultra-twisty course
....."

So youre the one...

Incase you go shopping for one;

I believe the key to a reliable RSV4 is a slip-on or full system and the race map. A full system more so. The sooner that's done, the better. The bike runs cooler and the valves stay more in spec. There's a guy around here who has 52,000 miles + on his 2010 and it's had the race map and full system on since day one. I had two other riding buddies who had 2010 factories, no race map,, and both their motors grenaded.

With the electronics, the 2013 bikes went to a cheaper stator and many of those burnt out. Aprilia has a recall on it and a reliable replacement.

Another big issue was with the 2012s having a defective coupling on the cooling system. The 2011s and 2014s seem to have the least issues. Mines a 2011 Factory. I'm sure the new Honda V4 is better but the RSV4 is still a great bike,, and I don't have to sell my house and live in a trailer in Slab City to buy the new Honda V4.

I was only mainly worried about electrical issues. Now grenaded motors? Great. I love the bike, but jesus...i dont want to buy italian.

Stoner will demo RC213V-S at Catalunya MotoGP
Oh, noes!
Don't post this in Couch Racer's Corner, or the bike will be an automatic failure because it is ridden by a whiney, quilter, a-hole, who Rossi doesn't pork, or some sheet like that. :green

I thought that was in euros...

Good CNET article on it

Bike is restricted to 100HP in the US, but there is a race kit available that comes with a ECU and bunch of other kit to bump it to the full 200+HP trim. Race kit is NOT available in US so you will have to go through third party.

Blame US emissions, it is a GP derived engine after all

Honda representatives say this was the only way to bring the bike into the US due to American noise and emissions regulations. And, again due to US laws, it's impossible for them to sell a kit that would allow riders to make their bike non-street legal. However, given the choice of importing this bike in a limited form, or not importing it at all, they opted to at least bring the thing over.

Think of it as buying a really expensive aftermarket exhaust system. :laughing
