The weight difference is only 50-80lbs. more. My die-hard rotary friend drove the car at the track yesterday for one session and said mine handled much better than his, and it was much easier to throttle steer than his rotary. Now, I've got different suspension/swaybars than him so the cars are not set up the same...
He is a much better driver than myself and did a good job of cooking my front brakes, I'm only a B driver. Photo's are on gotbluemilk.com - I'm car BO (yea, it was easy to remember).

Between me and my two skiing buddies, we've had an '02 WRX, '04 WRX, 3 '06 STI's and an '11 STI. What's really funny is that all three of us really wanted to go with Audi in the beginning but couldn't justify the price premium (in its many forms) when compared against a Subaru counterpart... even if Subaru is exceptionally talented at beating its lineup with the ugly stick. Lack of aesthetic appeal is just a part of the cost ownership when you go Subaru.

Just sold that diff kit I posted up... for HELLA MONEY!!!! break-in ended too and I just changed the oil today. Valvoline synthetic + OEM honda filter. time to valve-attack (VTEC) again
