motorist punched a pedestrian near San Francisco's Golden Gate Park Wednesday evening in a roadway confrontation that left the pedestrian with a life-threatening head injury, police said.

Police said the pedestrian, a 53-year-old man, crossed the street against a red light at Hayes and Stanyan streets at about 5 p.m., prompting a driver to honk at the man.

In response, the pedestrian slammed his backpack down on the hood of the driver's vehicle, and the driver got out and punched him, police said.

The punch caused the pedestrian to fall and hit his head on the pavement, resulting in serious injury, police said.

The male suspect then drove off, traveling north on Stanyan Street toward Fulton Street, police Sgt. Wilfred Williams said. No arrest has yet been made.

I call this on "Instant Karma." The Pedestrian probably made it a habit of jaywalking and crossing against the light. In my experience you are either the type of person who waits for the light or you are the type who does whatever you damn well please. My bet is that this guy is in the latter category and probably pissed off countless drivers before someone punched him in the head for being a prick.

Being a pedestrian does not make you right.

I'm tired of this bullshit "I-can-do-anything-I-want-whenever-I-want" attitude so many people carry around with them. For instance, I was pulling into a driveway off a busy street and three emo douchebags were walking from one side to the other... veeeery slooooowly. Meanwhile, the ass end of my truck is sticking out in heavy traffic. They were young and perfectly mobile yet did nothing to GET THE MOTHERFUCK OUT OF MY FUCKING WAY; they just sauntered real slow like cuz ya know... it's their right!

This asshole probably does the same shit. Common courtesey isn't so common.

Hayes and Stanyan is right around the edge of the panhandle. My guess is he was probably a gutter punk.

But if any of you drive around SF quite often, it's not unheard of for dipshits to cross against the light. Try driving down Mission on SOMA or Market without trying to hit anybody. Druggies, tourists, businessman in a rush, homeless... they're all alike.
