Jeep GC trade in >Hyundai Pallisade or Ford Explorer?

Telluride's fully loaded at $50k+ and some have $4k-$6k dealer markups.

Seems nuts for a Kia. Wife and I looked. Car seat and her 2016 A4 is a pain.

I'm leaning toward a used VW Atlas or spending more for a used Tahoe/Yukon in 4wd.

It seems nuts for a Kia, if it were 20 years ago. But Kia has gone a long ways compared to the Kia Sephias of the 90's or the Sportage of the 2000's. Kinda how Honda and Toyota started, too. But I still agree 50K is way up there.

We're also in the same boat and considering the Tahoe. We are looking for a 3rd row SUV (specifically with second row captains since we'll have two in car seats and one in a booster). The biggest problem I have is that my wife and I both detest leather seats (that takes Yukon out). Give us good cloth seats over leather or fake leather any day.

You want a minivan, trust me. :cool

The KIA Telluride seems to be the official car of my neighborhood. Every time I walk my dog, ride my bicycle or go to the store I see at least five of them driving around. I just went to check the mail and there was a green one parked near my mail box. I think they are following me.

Tahoe base is 50K without any options etc. That is lot of money for a GM badge,IMHO.
Checked Denali pricing and :wow

Had no idea GM(C) SUVs were this expensive

I should be more clear. When it comes to features and value, the 2021 Pilot is better than the current 2021 MDX.

Yeah the Pilot has a pano roof and the 2021 MDX doesn’t. So if sunroofs are your thing then the Pilot definitely wins. Because they both offer pretty much the same features otherwise, though the Acura AWD system is a lot more advanced. However I wasn’t talking about the third gen. I was talking about the all new one.

And in typical BARF fashion, I will recommend something else. Not sure if the budget is supporting $50k, but the 2022 MDX is on lots now and is quite good.

I like savagegeese too, particularly for the mechanical/shop portion and the stories behind the production of the vehicle. With that said-

The upside to Fords homologation is that in a few years they'll have this chassis nailed down and I can buy a used police interceptor and pimp it out with mustang aftermarket parts. The only upside.

It's pretty insane how powerful some of these are with a basic tune. I remember in college 11 second quarter mile was VERY respectable for a street car.

Awd and many speed computer controlled trans makes a big difference.

Honestly, no one in the SF Bay Area should concern themselves with anything AWD. It's completely unnecessary for like 95% of the people here. But hey, you can justify any purchase, right?!

Furthermore, they don't really need to drive in the first place, they probably don't need the internet, don't need to work, don't even need a house. Really, nobody needs to be alive, but for the most part we all justify it.

:huh

What if from December to March they drive to the snow every weekend?

It’s not like were in the middle of Africa here. Snow is only a few hours away.

You know africa has giant mountains like killamanjaro right

Hell if I ever see it. I’ve lived in the Bay Area forever and I still haven’t seen Alcatraz yet. Fine. How about middle of our own country Mr. geography shamer? Say Kansas. Any need for AWD there?

7.7+ million people in the bay area. Let's say half are of driving age. You think there is that many people going up to Tahoe every weekend?:wtf

But in that case, one can justify getting something with AWD, right, if they do go up there often. I get that.

It snows it parts of Africa too.

Calm your tits people. Not everyone goes to the snow every weekend during the winter months. Nor can afford to even stay in Tahoe and the surround area. (I'm only using Tahoe for example. I'm sure there are many places in the Sierra's that can be affordable and desirable to visit during the winter).

Anecdotal example...I've lived in the bay area since 1986. I didn't get to Tahoe in the winter time until 2010. I go up once a year. I take either my FWD minivan or FWD SUV. I've never found it necessary to spend the money on AWD if I don't go up there all the time in the winter. I hate the cold. Why subject myself to it more often than 4-5 days out of year. LOL

IMO...AWD is just unnecessary around here unless you need it to go Tahoe or snowy areas more often than the average bay area citizen.

But hey, buy what you want. It's your money.

Never owned an AWD SUV until we bought a CX5 turbo in 2019.

The extra traction in the rain is a nice thing to have despite the mpg penalty.

Plus we wanted the turbo and that only came AWD in that model.
