'stich is good stuff. I don't currently own a Klim jacket, but if I find a sweet deal on one, I would probably grab it. I didn't pay more than $100 for any of the four pair of Klim pants that I own. Deals are out there if one is patient. My current Summer gear is a mesh jacket (Olympia) and some nice mesh Klim pants. Great setup and the combined cost was under $200. Not too shabby at all.

Like Rukka and other high end makers they've moved most of their production to 3rd world sweatshops. I don't think it is appropriate to charge a premium for gear that is made in China.

Manufactured in China means nothing, as long as it wasn't designed there and the materials weren't selected there. I've worn both Stich and Klim, and IMO the top of the line Klim gear is way better than anything Aerostich makes. The Klim stuff fits so well, the venting is so well designed, the materials, zippers and attention to detail are fantastic, they're incredibly durable and they have armor built in. Knocking Klim is like saying McLaren makes shitty cars because they're expensive.

If McLaren made their cars in China I'd knock them too.

They probably spend the price difference flying back and forth to China and parking people there to micromanage the operation. Only way they can get the quality right.

It means something to me.

Quality is not my beef. Offshoring jobs from countries that respect labor laws and actual have a middle class to evil empires that allow their workers to be exploited is the issue. Every item we buy that is manufactured in the 3rd world is another nail in the coffin of the West.

On a purely practical note - why should I pay a premium for an item that doesn't cost a premium to make?

Fuck Klim.

Even if it was made in 'merka, most of y'all still wouldn't buy it cause it'd be even more expensive. They go to great lengths to make a premium product that just can't be made in the U.S. due to labour costs and tooling costs of a factory. But hey let's bash something cause it's made cheaper then imported and taxed to Hell for being an import since there's no manufacturer in the US able or willing to do the work and allow for the company to still turn a profit. Also your stitch may be made in the US I bet it's materials are made from imported fabrics made in China or other third world countries y'all decry.:rolleyes

Anyone know a brick and mortar that has Klim in stock for me to fondle? I'm in N.Bay but willing to travel.

Where is the "Like" button? I do my best to avoid Chinese products, for the most part. The issue is, as Dan pointed out, we simply don't manufacture many things in the US anymore. I will happily pay a premium to buy locally sourced goods, just as I happily pay a premium to buy a lot of moto parts/accessories from local shops whenever possible. Sometimes, it is just impossible for a company to actually produce their products without outsourcing.
