I've always dreamed of going to Laguna Seca but have been squimish by their noise restriction at 90db.

Both of my track option bikes have a Yoshi slip on.

Am I over worrying or do most bikes with aftermarket cans get black flagged?

What bike?

Everyone who goes to LS has this worry. Most of us back off from exit of 5 to 6 and stay left.

Funny story, we were there last week with PTT and 2 people showed up on an R1 and Duck with open pipes. They got turned away at tech. When the guy fired up the R1, I was right next to it and thought the black flag was going to come out from turn 5 :)

I have an '08 FZ1 with Yoshi TRC. Will have a db killer insert available.

Also have an FZ09 with Yoshi R77 full exhaust.

I'd say out of the two, FZ1 is definitely louder by a margin. I guess overall question is can you hit 90db while just coasting through Turn 5?

You'll be fine...I've taking my FZ1 two or three times with a full Graves...no db killer or inserts. Also had a few full prepped liter bikes with full exhaust...no db's...I just majorly puss out from 5 to 6...then hammer it everywhere else.

I have gone by sound wfo with my yosh on my FZ1 and no problems.

I got called out twice on a bone stock BMW S1000XR. Early in the day the first time, so went soft through 5/6. The the second time during the last session. Darn.

I believe it, getting called out might have factored in time of day with cloud/fog cover making the track a bullhorn.

Depending on the bike, you may still get flagged whether you're running OEM or aftermarket slipons unless you putt through the sound monitor(s). So really, it's 50/50 and you won't find out until you're out on the track assuming the provider's tech inspection even lets you pass their visual inspection.

I say if you can wing it, it's a worthy investment to find a used OEM silencer before your event. You won't have to worry about tech inspection, and you increase your chances of not blowing the db limit for the entirety of your event.

Personally, I already think LS is overpriced and it takes about an hour of my day to swap in the OEM exhaust system in my track bike, so if/when I do decide to patronize LS I don't want to have to roll-off anywhere on track to appease the db limit. I'm not that masochistic.

Many of the super-sport type bikes with RAM air blow the sound meter in the intake noise...not the exhaust noise.

I got meatballed on Ninja 250 couple years ago. I made special muffler just for use at Laguna.

Hit up jay murry. He will make you an insert and or a TURN AWAY!! That shit works! Full pipe 2020 s1krr and ran his insert and turn away at the beginning of may. Never got popped, and the last few laps of the last session, just rang it out past the booth. Nothing

Remind me tomorrow. I have his card and email

Here is his info

Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to check it out with my yoshi exhaust with lift off in turn 5. If I get meatballed, I get meatballed.

As an update, I went with a full Yoshi system on the FZ09 with db killer. Requested a sound check and got a reading of 84db going balls out. 1pm on sunny blue sky day (approx. 63 degrees).

No lift off for me required during the entire day, had a FANTASTIC time there. I can see why the track is beloved.

Thanks all for the tips. Obviously, weather and track conditions may differ readouts.

Glad you had fun! Not too many sound pops over the two days and when we did, they were generally in the low 90s.
