I figured I am not the only guy who has not even looked at a store yet and has a special woman in our life that we need to make feel special for Xmas.

I thought I would help out those challenged male barfers by requesting suggestions from the kind ladies on barf. A range of gifts would be good.. from the little things to medium..every guys know a 3 carat diamond will be great and get you to all the rides and track days you need to attend in 2008, but what else might that is not quit as rocking..

Thanks..:)

I didn't know what to get Arie for xmas last year as we had just started dating and all.

Some folks liked what i did and wanted the idea for their SO.

What i did was a gift for the senses. please keep in mind that we were only dating for a couple of weeks at this point. now, after a year the items would be different.

Taste = special hot sauce (as Arie loves spicy food)
Touch = can't remember - something soft
Smell = My favorite cologne (as he would enjoy me jumping him each time i smell it)
Sight = Dr Who book (he loves dr who)
Sound = Santana CD (who doesn't love santana?)

Last minute, huh? :rolleyes haha j/k :p

Well it depends on what her interests are but some ideas:

Electronics: MP3 player, digital camera, etc.

Personal: gift certificate to a day spa with massage in a cute gift basket full of lotions, soaps, etc. or a nice cashmere sweater.
A book with a sweet message from you inside.

Jewelry: inexpensive silver jewelry from Tiffany's or another place she might like (earrings, bracelet, etc. - there's one @ Stanford mall).

A Dainese one-piece Yu suit in black size 44!!!!! yea!!!!!!

I always had luck with fave perfume, Chico's gift certificate, and $35 a bottle balsamic vinegar.

Honda or Toro Lawn mower! :cool

J/K Let's see....

Guilty pleasures gift cards: *$$, Pete's, JambaJuice or bookstore. Then go spend the afternoon with her just hanging out doing what she wants to do now matter how excruciatingly boring it is.

Gift certificate to a spa!

Get her car detailed inside and out.

+1 on giftcards. :thumbup (Wrap them in some fuzzy socks - chicks dig those!)

If she likes malls, get her several smaller ones from a handful of stores there. Or a day-spa (they're everywhere now) one for anything from a pedicure to a pampering day of massage, facials, etc.

A nice, inexpensive yet personal and thoughtful one is a calendar! The mall kiosks have hundreds of them - what's her favorite animal/artist/team/sport/cartoon/car/flower/country/hobby, etc.?
She'll think of you fondly each month of the year! ;)

Do some homework/research or just pay attention and listen/look at what she likes. :cool

Oh, and any Marshall's, Ross or T.J. Maxx will give you many choices without the high prices.

Good luck! :)

+1 to the above listed stuff.

In addition, I personally like anything that's contemporary and "edgy." I'll take anything from a t-shirt to a clock to a funky little ring. French-milled soaps and lotions are really nice also--stuff that I wouldn't buy for myself. I'm a big fan of those puffy, crazy-soft socks and, yes, SWEATS! But pajamas and lounge outfits are always nice. I've always been a fan of doing things as opposed to getting things so getting a massage, having dinner made for me, planning a special walk/ride or picnic, taking me to a music show or a restaurant I've always wanted to try, or doing a trackday with me are great.

I just gathered a few places I found that have good stuff.

Smallthings

Chocosho

Etsy

When in doubt and if your wallet allows, just about anything from Red Envelope is fairly safe and tasteful. All of us chickies are different. Some gals are tickled with stuffed teddy bears and chocolates. Others of us like leather corsets and a fresh bundle of rope. :devil (Now the reason question is....what the heck do you guys want?!)

And if your girl is Arie, you're set :thumbup

darlin' I said folks liked the idea not the gifts...for example some girl might like this:

Taste: sushi dinner
Touch: silk mustache collection
Smell: batman's index finger
Sight: full length mirror
Sound: of my hand hitting your arse

understand?

If I got even one thing from LUSH (there's one in Valley Fair) my giftmas would be set. I LOVE that place! But that's just me.... :)

Damn!! I am genius!!! (ok maybe not but...) After getting that Dainese jacket for her bday (size 38 though ;) ), I got her Tiffany earings (from Stanford mall - it's sorta cheap and girls never complain about anything that has the word Tiffany's on it), Gucci purse and Burberry Cashmere scarf (both Nieman Marcus). She opened her gifts yesterday (we are traveling next week) and it was a 100% success!!!
The weird thing is that Nieman Marcus had more selection and newer designs for the Burberry scarves than the Burberry store itself!!! Pick the large checker ones, not the small scarves, too short.
Also note that unlike Valley Fair, Stanford was not crowded at all the 3 times I went there after work.

Good luck :thumbup

All I have to say "holy crap that's a lot of stuff!" One nice gift is plenty. I feel guilty if a anyone gives me too much. You work hard for your money. Save some of it for yourself. :thumbup

I'm all for less stuff, and more experiences.
Shooting lessons,
kayak trips,
a motorcycle tour if she rides,
plane tickets for both of you (somewhere cool)
massages,
sushi,
dance lessons if she's that sort of girl, or martial arts training if she's that sort of girl,
theater/concert tix

Mine says the same thing. She says, "Hold the designer stuff, I'd rather travel for tasty treats!" :laughing :laughing
