I have never really learned to cook beyond some basics which means I won’t starve, but I want to learn how to do so.

My wife can cook but some of you dudes really impress me with your skills

Take your basic recipe and go wild. Got some veggie in the fridge that aren't moldy? Toss them in. Got potatoes that are getting green? Chop them up and toss them in. Don't waste food, cook it up, add spaghetti or marinara sauce, call it Hungarian goulash a la mood, and if nobody gets sick, it's a win. :teeth

Got some ramen? Chop up a hotdog or kielbasa and some frozen veggies or potstickers, add them to the pot. 🥳

You're probably really good at some obscure skill due to all the time not spent cooking. If I exchanged my cooking practice time for language study I would be a polyglot. Now, after learning all the cooking skills, I'm kinda over it. Just doing the basics and keeping it simple. It's also challenging to see others put tons of time into doing some food wiz-bang and having to pretend it's really good when it's not. When I'm no longer full time+ there will be more creative efforts.

A couple of years ago, I put together a sardine casserole that I thought was insanely good. My wife, not so impressed. Oh, well, I enjoyed it. :thumbup

I'm hooked on Bob Travis videos. Anyone new to CI or just likes to see how some folks do it should subscribe to his videos. He shows how the Lodge CI are pre-seasoned out of the box. I've also found this to be true of the Lodge pans.
