*Liam's Wild Ride*

This little baby finally got me out of there!

Liam, Great trip, great photos and stories. I just read all 42 pages at once (it's 1am) -damn you. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes with the rest of your journeys and international moto career. -ed

...but then we'd have to be reading the small print, the small, sideways print that lists the photographer. Why would we ever do that?!?!? I was certain you were refering to the new R6 tests at Losail in Qatar. That issue has many odd connections with your life. Seriously though, nice shot! I wanna be like Mike!

Actually, I was hoping someone would notice something like this in the February issue of Cycle World:

any news on the bicycle front? how much is shipping going to cost, i'd be willing to chip in a couple of $$

cardinal03,

Shipping with full insurance is going to be a bit over $300.
All help is welcome.

More updates on Monday.

Thanks,
Lonny

flights to Barcelona are as low as $500 on cheaptickets, probably lower with hotwire. let's get the shipping fee together and just send a barfer to barcelona!

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for chipping in on the bicycle (if you have)! I am currently in Madrid checking out some work potential and getting more of an idea of what Spain is like. This city is in the center of the country, and so far the sights have been nice and the weather has been decent, as in, not freezing. On the bad side of things, I went to a large bookstore (FNAC) and purchased a travel guide on Thursday, mistakenly using my debit card instead of my usual credit card. Checked my balance online earlier today and discovered someone had "Appropriated" my account numbers and has been charging it up throughout Madrid's department stores. I spent the day (literally, hours!) on the phone with BOA's utterly incompetent service people trying to get my card cancelled and get back some of the fraudulent charges. So far it seems like I'll end up losing a little time, money, and confidence in BOA. Lesson learned, be careful with your credit cards! Still, this bookstore is the largest chain in the country and I don't really feel like I did anything wrong, so I'm just bummed that this came along my way.
Note to self: change Banks.
Hopefully I have something to report in the next couple days.

i just saw some on travelzoo the day before yesterday for $169 each way!

I'm headed back to Barcelona later today after a rushed and stressful week in the Capital. Had some great food and saw a bunch of folks I hadn't seen since early November. I also tried to connect with as much Moto Mojo as I could :) . I'm going to have photos up later this week of this excursion to Madrid (which you'll all enjoy, trust me) but for now I'm on a public machine with an oddball keyboard set-up.

Anyone interested in making the first World Superbike race this year . . . . . . . (Feb 26)? And who's going to Jerez with me (March 26)?!? And what are people doing on April 8th? I want to know!

Hey John,

Honestly, at this point I don't know where I'm going to be and what I'm going to be doing! June is a ways off right now and I'm concentrating on what I'm going to be doing for the immediate months ahead. Still, if I make it there we'll be sure to hook up and have that cup o'java!

You sound a little down. hope not.
In any event - Keep the faith.

I really think something fantastic will happen, careerwise for you soon. You have a lot of people sending positive energy your way.
What you are doing is inspiring - it will pay off for you.

Thanks DE! I guess I'm used to the American way of doing things; where hard work and dedication pay off! One of the things I've noticed through my travels is that Americans work A Lot! We spend all year working, lucky to have two weeks off (and even then, getting the time off in total is difficult), and we work long hours. I really expected something to happen, or pay off by now, but one of my flaws/faults is a stubbornness that rivals a donkey's. That said, I am also getting to a point in my life where I am realizing the importance of stopping and being grateful for everything I have and everything I've done. It's important to be thankful and feel everything fully before focusing on the next goal or challenge. On my way to Madrid, my flight was delayed so I took some time to have a drink and a sandwich. Europe!

As of January 1st, Spain instituted some legislature that bans smoking in public places, like restaurants and bars. That means there are a bunch of cranky people wandering around. Basically it's the same laws in effect in California, but the loop hole here has to do with square footage of the establishment. Nonetheless, I was happy to see this in the airport after my flight.

The smoking zone was a scant twenty feet from the baggage carousel! Maybe less.

Although it's the middle of winter, and Madrid is in the middle of the country, I didn't expect to see as much green as I did during my stay. The airport is clean and very nice and here's a shot I grabbed while crossing through a tunnel to get to the Metro station.

I arrived in town and immediately got situated. I decided to go see Nacho and some of the guys at Telefonica/Movistar and here was the little roadster that made it possible. Believe it or not, it actually says "Slingshot 16V" on the tank. Nice to see the family connection concerning this engine!
