*Liam's Wild Ride*

These are the old Spanish Championship bikes, a couple R6's and R1's. Next season promises to be fun, and there was a beautiful ZX-10R stripped down and ready to be converted into a Superbike. . . and it looked just like the ones the Kawasaki USA team is putting together for the AMA series . . . . . .

I had fun wandering around, playing with parts, and giving a helping hand when possible. This chassis was missing something or other.

Now, on to the Madrid excursion! You may have noticed that I like to take photos of vehicles I like, and food! I really think this is a guy thing, because most of the women I know are always rolling their eyes when I have to stop for a shot. Here's a couple of pics of some bikes that caught my eye as I walked through the city. I'm surprised no one has pointed out what this is yet, after I posted a photo of a red one earlier.

Looks like a b!tch if you get a leak at the rear cylinder! I do think the frame is pretty though..

So I helped stuff this engine in. Gotta figure that when I'm around people are always asking me to do something or other, haha. Just kidding. It feels really good sometimes, really nice to be learning new things and not just stuck in the same routines day after day. You know what they say, you may have worked somewhere for five years . . .but chances are you only have one year experience.

hang in there lil' buddy ;-) things will get better for you, of that i am certain.

let's plan on hanging out in mugello, as i will be staying in a to be determined cool converted convent, with about 90 ducati club presidents. i am sure we can find a place for you to crash there, and food and drinks will be provided.

ciao,

your pic of the massive Palacio Real reminded me of the kitten that came out from the shrubs to me during a rainstorm. Spain: I'm a fan.

Well, running with the Bulls sounds like a great idea. . . . except the festival is right around Laguna Seca time! I checked it out last year and although it's possible, it would be really brutal, travelwise. As for visiting BCN, Spring and Summer are the better months because this city isn't really set up for the cold weather and right now it's a bit chilly.

I will try to get the Pamplona run thing over with this year (have been delaying it for way too long). From the looks of it, I will be in Spain in July and then watch MotoGP at Donington Park.

Liam,
The bike is at the shop and ready to ship. :banana:banana:banana

I need to discuss some specifics with you as soon as possible. Because of donations and contacts :)boobies :thumbup), we are looking at a 4-5 day FedEx delivery, so when we get these little details worked out, you should have your bike within a WEEK!!! :drool
Wooohooo!
Email me.
Lonny
P.S. To those of you who have contributed, WE LOVE YOU MAN!!
(Donations are still welcome. little or big, show Liam you care)

Finally had a chance this past weekend to visit the Macba museum in the Raval area. It was formerly a crummy part of town but it's a lot nicer thanks to additional policing and newer construction. It's a Modern Art museum, but many of the exibits dated from the fifties through the seventies. You can find out more about this place here:

A shot up the chute between the main exibition hall and the bookstore/giftstore. I couldn't believe how many art and photography books were available! Sure wish it was a sunnier day, but hey, you get what you can!

I would've taken pictures of the interior and the artwork, but then I wouldn't have been relaxing. There was a large black rectangle, though, and that was some Mo-darn Art! It was a big black painting of a big black rectangle. I'm still thinking about it. Course, there was also a city made out of chocolate, but that was ancient. Here's a shot showing the new and the old in this part of town.

*UPDATE*

Liam's bike is boxed up (or should I say 'boxed down') and ready to ship. I was able to work out a deal with FedEx and a few friends to get the shipping time down to a week and the costs reduced.
I hate to beg but, anyone on the fence about a donation, now's your chance! Every little bit helps, thanks.

I will be emailing Liam with a tracking number later today (tomorrow, for him) and he should have a bike in Spain by this time next week. Of course, he may have to put a choke hold on the customs people to get it from their grasp, but we will all think positive thoughts about making that happen as easily as possible.

Thanks to everyone who has donated thus far and for everyone who is still thinking about it. Heck, it may even be tax deductible (disclaimer: I am not a tax accountant. Any statements made by me regarding taxation or lack thereof are strictly conjecture, and should be discussed with a REAL tax accountant before making any assumptions. Phew!)

It's getting exciting here, and I know Liam is chomping at the bit, to be able to get around the city on his new GT Moto!

More to come...,

This is a very popular area with the Skaters. Every time I've been through here I've had an education on what's cool to wear when you're young! From baggy, to military, to ripped and shredded, to quasi-normal, it's nice to see the variety and diversity -- but I don't want my pants halfway down my ass!

There's only so much "Art" a guy like me can take! Just scouring the surrounding blocks turned up this *Beauty* from the right era and just sitting there, waiting for some love. I wonder if the tires gave up before the owner did. . .

Lonny, thanks for the update! And thanks to everyone else involved! I'm sitting on my hands over here and can't wait to explore more of this city, the Moto-Mecca, and the countryside beyond! It will be fantastic to get back on two-wheels, and I'm sure this will be just perfect for me -- in town, on trains, and getting around the circuits in Europe!

As for me this week?

I'm heading back to Qatar for round #2 of the Qatar National Championship and hoping to make a good showing. Like the last time, I'm not sure what my internet contact level will be. . . but word is that Suzuki and Camel Yamaha will be in attendance for some preseason testing :) Boooooo-Yaaaahhhhh! Hopefully I can get some good photos if I can break away from work, but work will be the #1 priority so we'll just have to see. I'm just stoked that d'Antin's crew asked me back for another shot!

Trivia time! Which spot is this and why is it significant?!?

It's the spot Rossi started from when he was penalized at the first Qatar GP.

Is that the spot where Rossi got busted with the scooter last year? That was when he told Sete, that he will never win another race again?
