*Liam's Wild Ride*

This one makes great wallpaper. Email me if you want the high-res version. How cool is it to have extra wheels and brakes just to run the "transport tires"? All the bikes had transport tires on them, not sure why. Surely theft of material can't be the issue. General wear and tear?

Perhaps theft of intellectual property. I'm sure that Bridgestone would like to get some Grade A prime Michelin race tires for dissection, or the opposite situation.

can you imagine trying to steal the wheels off of this bike? If you get that close, why not steal the whole bike? I think Yamaha guards their bikes just fine :)
Actually, tire theft is a major concern but there's an odd respect throughout the paddock because everyone is there for the same reasons and has the same speed demons driving them. Personally, I think it's so the bike is always looking good, with "fresh" tires on it, instead of shagged ones.

Here's the most interesting photo I took all week. . . . . I'll let you rumour mongers get it started before I chime back in.

I have some errands to run right now, my luggage is still lost from Sunday's flight, my bike is still trapped in Customs (and it's looking like the taxes alone to get it through will be HIGH) and I need a hat for my bald head. See you guys soon! And let's start planning on some Barf meetings around the world! C'mon people, get out with your bad selves!

P.S. the Stars' Nightsongs album absolutely rules right now! Find it here:

The sound this bike makes on decel is like nothing I have ever heard before. Anyone want to host a 6 second sound bite, up close :) <snip> Apparently the whoever laid the fiber got the shape wrong. . . . . shoulda got Tygaboy on it.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Here it is!
Thanks for hosting the MPG file K-Dog! Note the Suzuki exhaust is now routed similarly to the Honda's. Sounds great on my logitech speakers. Much better than out of my camera. Next time I'm around some cool bikes I'll try to get better sound clips.

Oh, and about the photo with Stuart Shelton and John Hopkins checking out the Yamaha. . . . well, it was under wraps until Suzuki came out to fire up some of their bikes. One of the bikes wouldn't catch for quite a while, perhaps evidence of the electrical problems the bikes are suffering from. When the Yamaha guys saw who was right there, they took the sheet off the bike so John could check it out up close -- and he did! He made a full 360 around the bike and I wonder if this was dangled in front of him at the close of last season. . . . .

Any encounters w/ the Kenny Roberts team? Jr. seems to be pretty blown away w/ the Honda motor. Do us a favor and chat him up to see what kind of 'dirt' you can get on the KR guys :) Pretty please :teeth

Havin' too much fun.

The next day was better, as I had more rest and I remembered the way to and from the circuit! I got ahold of my fairings, a day late, and proceeded to get my bike back together since it was still half apart from the wreck three weeks ago.

Still playing wit plastics huh? Too cool Liam, Keep me posted on the Italia gp.

When I first saw these wheels I thought they might be from the Suzuki Alstare team from World Superbike. Turns out the GP team is changing the colors of the rim strips from red to yellow. I think it's the Australian thing. These wheels are made by Joe Bito, a japanese guy who used to a GP mechanic with Honda back in the Eighties. He got out of it a couple years ago and when he tried to get back in there wasn't a place for him. He had always hated the Marchesini's because they broke so easily, and had even gone to their factory to see what was up. Since he knew they were a liability he decided to make his own wheels, and thus, JB Power wheels was born. Talk about finding a niche! Now Joe is the supplier for several Japanese National teams, SuzukiGP (I think WSBK, too), KawasakiGP, and more. These are the Mag-Tan models, unobtanium indeed. Joe gave me a lift one day when I was hitch-hiking to the circuit in Valencia last year and we had breakfast together. If you ever meet him, drop my name, and be nice, he's a very knowledgable and friendly person.

Hey Weak Link,

I haven't had any contact with Team Roberts since Valencia last year, but I have been following the progress of the KR211V very closely! I think we have the makings of something that will undoubtedly perform better than the Moriwaki Dream, and in the hands of a former World Champion, KRJR, I'm really rooting for them! I think the vehicle development in England is really taking up everyone's time, because no one has returned any of my emails! That aside, I hope to get some good info and photos at the IRTA Test in early March . . . . .. that's right baby, I'm going to the IRTA tests!

Ferdie, glad you're enjoying everything. I highly recommend throwing on some red rim strips on your Marchesinis, and as for the JB Power wheels, I don't think they're available to the public at this time.

You Rang?
Well now, here's something else for you Weak Link. I wonder how the timing of these things work- you ask, and Bam! here it is!

Chuck Aksland, the guy under KRSR on Team Roberts, just completed an interview with Bob Hayes of www.MotoGPOD.com, the podcast! The episode will be available tomorrow, 2/10/06 and should feature some great content for those of us following the Roberts' saga! I can't wait :)

Oh, and people, if you're gonna take my photos and cross-post them on other boards, at least give me some credit! :mad
It's not like they're cheap or easy to get.

D U D E

Just checked back in after a couple months in holiday, ticket, court, birthday, roof land.

Nobody told me you were traveling around the world with a moto crew.

Hey , Burts back, the weather is goooooood today, I can almost ride without my shoulder hurting, and I'm getting my garaged cleared out and heading towards the corner where the buell is waiting patiently for repair.

I just got my cable hooked back up, so the speed channel has made another appearence in my abode. The tv goes in the garage next.

I'll send you some pics soon.

yeehaa

That was awesome- talk about great timing, too :thumbup If you are a hard core motogp fan this is great stuff. I don't know how you can't be rooting for those guys after all these years of getting kicked in the nuts.

Wow great thread. Thank you for sharing.

Hey, I thought I read that Luca Cadalora tested a few of the MotoGP bikes in the days following the Valencia race.... Do you have any Cadalora pics??? Lub me some Luca.

Actually, I think I do have some Cadalora pics. I believe he was riding for one of the Spanish magazines but I can't remember which one right now. Problem is, I don't remember which helmet he was wearing -- if you can find out what he was wearing I'll dig through my archives and find you some Luca pics.
