Who can tell me what's on the shelf on the right? Huge bonus points for anyone that gets it - and more photos, of course!

While we're on the subject of rare vehicles, who's gonna point out what this is? Yes, I know it's a Ford, so get technical.

Ford capri MKIII, sold under the mercury moniker in the states.
don't know what engine is in that one, could be anything from an inline 1.6liter for to the 3liter essex v6. of course yanks would drop a mustang 302 into it and turn it in to a poor mans cobra.

I might be mistaken on this one but I think a Cosworth performance package was a very limited edition option. Anyone know for sure?

Respect, TempBarf, Post-whores, and Liam's Rant

Hello Everyone,

I just want to start off today by thanking everyone who reads, enjoys, and contributes to this thread, *Liam's Wild Ride*. It seems like there are more viewers everyday, and I'm very happy to know that people from overseas follow it, as well as the local folks back in the Bay Area :thumbup Thank you all, for being here. A few things before the Ride continues:

This thread is very important to me. Not only have I put a significant amount of time (and photos!) into it, it's also about my experiences, my feelings, and it is, quite literally, about my life. Believe it or not, I take my time before posting anything, and I try to go back and edit myself whenever I catch a typo. This thread is my gift to Barf, to share some of the journey - the trials that I am going through, the laugher and the mischief, the hard work and the dedication it takes, everything that happens while I try to break into the world scene. Plus, I get to do some really cool stuff! I don't need to post any of it here, but it's a good story to share and I know most of you appreciate it. When you have something genuine, something positive to contribute, by all means, please post. I truly enjoy and appreciate the interaction I have with you guys; your questions, my answers, my questions, your answers; it constantly goes back and forth.

But sometimes it can go too far. I want everyone to think about what they're doing when they post here. I welcome everyone to join in, but please think about why you are here, and what the spirit of this thread is about, before shooting off a one liner, a curse, an inane, inapporpriate, or flippant comment, i.e., anything that doesn't contribute to this thread. Normally, I just ignore it and move on, but as this gets bigger, I want people to understand that this thread reflects on me. It's not a resume of sorts, but it's something I've crafted and we're all ingredients in the mix. I don't want any bad sauce messing up my mojo, and the last thing I need is someone to check this thread out and think, "WTF, what the heck is this about?". Do I need someone posting here who can't even spell my name right? Or someone who jumps in because they wanted to nail that elusive 1000th post? I'm not singling anybody out, but this is something I've had on my mind since the TempBarf debacle, and I am posting this message because stupid posts bother me. I'm going to be a little more active in making sure this thread is handled correctly, as in, no baiting, trolling, post-whoring, flaming, thread-jacking, etc. You guys know the deal. There's plenty of space on Barf to play. I think by now everyone knows that I love a good laugh (I'm goofier than most of you!), but ask yourself before adding, does it belong here or in the Kitchen Sink?

I know I've probably stepped on some toes, or offended some people, but I want to get the message across that I just want this to be a good place for people to come and enjoy it. I'm asking that we step it up, watch our language, and be that good motorcycling community I know we are. I respect you guys, and I'd like to think that it goes both ways.

:Rant off, Ride Continues!

After reading that, I wasn't sure if I should ask, but on 4th thought, I really need to know. They seriously use peugeot cab's over there?!?!?! That's awesome!

Sorry, as per the bike pic, and the shelf question I was thinking that maybe it was all the original and uninstalled parts from that bike, but I have no idea really. hehe

Good work Liam, keep up the posts, and the mission!

Cabs? Peugeots, Beemers, Mercedes (all over Portugal!), Citroens, Skodas, you name it, it's crazy. I know I'm leaving some out, but you get the idea. Some of the cabs are super-charged, and you hear them Whissping when they're leaving the lights. It's neat, and I'm happy to report that SUV's and minivans haven't really caught on here.

Answers to Questions:

First off, about that thing on the shelf:
Whorenet and Weak_link have correctly identified it as the super rare and extremely precious motore of the illustrious Ducati Supermono . Not too shabby, considering there aren't many of these around. Anyone care to find out the production numbers? Johnc, how could you, of all people, miss this?!? I'll check back with the shop within the next week or so on the MH900e question. I think this motor came from one of the 94-96 versions, as the muffler that was also on the shelves was the single can, dual outlet type by Termignoni. Very nice jewel.

In fact, Weak_Link also scored on the Ford, because it is indeed a Capri. UKtech1, Fatshady, and Tuximono also score big for getting technical, as this car is indeed the 2.8i Capri. Uktech1, glad to bring you a blast from the past!

Oh, and the old racebike? Weak_Link again! 1985 Ducati 750 F1 with swingarm upgrade to 1987-88 spec, IIRC. I love the way the tank sits down in the frame! Gorgeous! The Paso was sold later in the 750 and 907 guise and they both ran trellis frames, though the littler one had square tubes instead of round stock. I think I read once that the U.S. spec Paso's came with something other than the Weber carbs (which were on the intl. models) and this is why it was a common/necessary upgrade to the U.S. ones. I also believe the #88 bike started out as a Paso, but was altered so much it sports 851/888 race fairings - I could be wrong, as there was a language barrier and I'm not a Ducati history expert - yet! ;)

Hi everyone,

The last few days I've been spending time walking around. The weather is turning, leaves are sprouting from the trees lining the streets, and the sun is shining. On Saturday I had a nice time walking through the Passeig de Gracia area, which is filled with expensive boutiques and high-profile brand stores (think Rodeo drive type stuff), and also some cheaper places, like H&M. I guess it's a social shopping area, with lots of outdoor cafes and bars/restaurants interspersed throughout the hotels lining the street. As the day turned to evening, I thought I saw someone I recognized, but I wasn't sure. However, the person recognized me! Turns out it was Oliver Jacque, former World 250cc Champ and Kawasaki test-rider (hopefully a wildcard rider later this year - Le Mans anyone?). He was strolling through the area with two kids, and also his parents. We stopped and chatted for a few minutes, which was cool, and he was here because he was getting married this weekend. Congratulations Oliver - I hope that ring doesn't slow you down!

This makes the second weekend in a row I have randomly run into somone from the MotoGP World Championship, and both times no one else recognized them. I wonder how many people involved in the AMA scene are recognized when they're in town for a race? The last time I was around an AMA race, I had a great time talking with Merlyn Plumlee, and to my surprise, no one else was bothering us! This guy has got a lot of history and good stories, but people didn't seem to recognize him. Oh well, their loss. Speaking of history, this Marque has quite a bit as well, and this is how I prefer to see them. . . . . . .
