*Liam's Wild Ride*

ciao all -

this is an excellent plan!!! email liam if you plan on attending mugello, so he can get a headcount, and i can set up a ducati factory and museum tour specifically for the group from barf. this will be your own personal tour, as i know most of the factory tour guides and livio lodi, who is the director of the museo ducati. plus, there is an excellent cafe right at the factory, and two factory stores you can purchase ducati swag from.

ciao,
johnc

I'm in. Emailing Liam now.:teeth

Ducky, go to Phillip Island. I've heard many amazing stories about that place, and had I the money, I'd do my best to go also. Why not try to get a small group together, so you can rent a house and party it up like the real people do there?!?

MadDawg, looking forward to hearing from you. Why not trade your wife away for a couple days? I'm sure she'll be so enthralled by the architecture and monuments, intersections, museos, etc, you won't be too sorely missed while you're at the races :teeth

He had a bad hand injury or something before. And it made him decide he wanted to look more like strongbad.

Liam has indeed met young Mr Pedrosa - take a look at page 4 of this thread... I reckon Liam was kneeling down when this shot was taken though...

Hey Ted, welcome to Barf, and thanks for pointing out my connection with Dani. We have run into one another several times (more info available through the podcasts of www.MotoGPod.com and also www.RumblestripRadio.com , episode seven). In fact, I probably talk so much with Bob Hayes that it has become the perfect compliment to this thread, because there are things I say I don't even realize sometimes, and it's all good content - Motorcycle Content! Oh, and in that photo with Dani I'm actually at my normal height. I magically grow when I'm around motorcycles because they excite me :)

#65 indeed injured his hand severely in the past, hence the massive coverage of these gauntlets. However, knowing a tiny bit about the wind-tunnel testing that Ducati performs, I would wonder if they also serve to help the airflow over his forearms and past his elbows? Food for thought.

dani to liam: "hey liam, is that a pit stand in your pocket ... or are you just happy to see me?" :teeth

The glove design on 65 is...... interesting. Why all the padding, what gives?

Loris says that about his hands (Injuries) But i think its more likley to be 'cause his wifs soooooooooooooo HOT!

AND AS FOR "LUCKY S.O.B." AS A GREAT GOLFER ONCE SAID "THE MORE I PRACTICE THE LUCKIER I GET."

Or, an ugly rich man is still a rich man

Actually, Loris sustained that hand injury way back when he was riding 250's. The bike spat him off going under the bridge at Suzuka, if I recall and the bike did several donuts in the middle of the track with the motor screaming and Loris's hand trapped between the clip-on and the road.

Doesn't even bear thinking about now, but I remember watching it at the time and thinking, "Damn, that must be hurting."

Unfortunately, I've been fighting a serious cold all week, alternating from severe congestion, to all out sneezing attacks with (what seems like) unlimited flow from my nose. Yay, me!

I've tried to shake it, but so far nothing has worked, not salads or other healthy things, not even Chinese Hot and Sour soup! Maybe it's partially because I'm sick, but things this week have generally been tense and I find that some things are just plain getting on my nerves.

Frustration!
Tonight I decided that I would pick up a Digital Voice Recorder. Might as well remember the sounds as well as the sights, right? And since I'm a gadget person, I thought, make sure it's USB capable so you can save the audio to your computer (obvious implications here). So, I walk to FNAC, the Borders-a-like in my town, and proceed to spend ten minutes looking at units strapped to the wall. Ten more minutes to find an "associate" who could get one for me from the backroom, only to find out that the model I wanted wasn't available and that I should just take the floor model (which was in bad shape). Ten more minutes to figure out my second choice, ten more for the sales guy again, twenty minutes in line - only to find I can't use my credit card because I didn't have my passport on me (Doh!), so I had to leave everything to run downstairs to find an ATM. Finally get the ATM going, and the machine says it is having trouble communicating so it can't help me, so I'm off to find another ATM machine. . . which I find along with a large line. Ten minutes in line for that, another ten to get back upstairs in the store, five minutes in line, five minutes in another line because the teller was switching shifts or something, and finally, being able to buy my recorder. Not! Had to take a receipt downstairs and wait in another line to get it, and when I did I was so pumped I immediately took off to get a bite to eat (all this line standing was exhausting). Got home, started playing with it and come to realize that the software it came with won't work with my Mac. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to try and return this :( Anyway, sometimes it seems like it's impossible to get little things done here, and I don't know if it's just me, or something else conspiring to make my life more "interesting". Is it just Spain?

Last week I decided to get away from the computer for a couple days and I took a train to what I thought was going to be a nice scenic beach town. I ended up in an industrial area worthy of Old Detroit (think Robocop) and found myself strolling down the beach road past places like this.

Maybe I'll have more luck this weekend ;)

As of now, I've got some Aussie friends I am planning to stay with. They rent out a small apartment for the week nearby where all the stuff is going on at night. Kinda like cannery row I presume?

I'm also hoping to get in touch with some of the people I met at EICMA, mainly my buddy Tim from Wayne Gardner Enterprises. I think they are going to have a hospitality tent and throw a bash? Dunno.

Also have a buddy from Greenstar in Hong Kong, where all the Berik/MGP/AN stuff is designed and made.. Don't think he'll get to make it, but gonna try to talk him in to it!!! It's still like an 8 hour flight from HK!!!
