*Liam's Wild Ride*

As you've guessed, I'm a little behind schedule right now.

My favorite car in the world, with some twit getting in the way! I promised myself one day that I was going to own one of these, but I think I'll be totally old, fat, and bald by the time that happens, haha. Waitaminnit, don't say it!

All I can really say right now is that I'm tired, I'm stressed, but more than anything, I'm Happy!

I want to start making tentative plans to hang out with everyone at Laguna Seca, and because I'm most likely going to be busy during the days and early evenings, Friday Night sounds like the best plan. My time in the States will be short, but I want to connect/reconnect with as many of my friends as possible, so look sharp and let's make this happen. Why not have a Barf Function at Blue Moon (or someplace chill where we can all hang out without screaming) on Friday around 10ish? Budman, make some calls and let's see if we can have a Barf gathering somewhere. I might have some special guests with me who want to check out the nightlife and mingle with the locals.

See you guys later! yes, yes, haha, blatant plug!

Liam, you're the man! I absolutely cannot wait to hear your stories and shake your hand in person at Laguna! :thumbup

You get the time and place and I'll BE THERE!!
Glad to hear that you are making plans to come home for the GP.
Very exciting stuff your posting. Thanks for the look.

Hmm, what's he doing here?

Also present was Peter Clifford, formerly of WCM. Since he's been involved in GP, he hasn't missed a race in years. This is the first time he hasn't had a team on the grid in I don't know how long! For you statistics types, find out, cause I'd like to know. Mr. Clifford is attending all the races this season, because deep down, he's just as big a fan as anyone. Right On!

Hey Liam! this thread is still the most entertaining thing on barf!

just wanted to point out that the guy in the photo above looks remarkably like Sito Pons... :)

Peter Clifford looks like this:

Name that Bike! These are just a few examples of kookie bikes in France.

Honda Hornet 600 (aka the Honda 599 here in the States, both cousins to my beloved 919). The French sure do like to customize the heck out of their Hornets: http://mc16concept.com/-Les-Prototypes-Honda-Hornet-.html

BTW Liam--Keep on keepin' on! All the effort you put into your thoughful accounts and your wonderful photos of your adventures are greatly appreciated (lord knows, in my much more mundane life I can hardly find the time/energy to post even the shortest messages anymore). Take this post then as yet another sign that I (and many others who only know you through your posts) are vicariously inspired by your drive to pursue this moto-dream/journey and to document it along the way. Shoot, if you made a documentary/reality DVD of your life, I know I'd buy it...;) Now that I got a new gig, count me in to contribute to the cause. Seems to me all this positive karma is surely building up to your Big Breakthrough yet to come...

Jeez, I know who Peter Clifford is! I know who Sito is, too. They know who I am, at least. Don't you recognize the "There's that guy again!" look?

Le Mans is definitely a pretty amazing place. I was there for the 24 hour sportscar race in '94 , '97 , and '03 (I'm already planning a visit in '07). The MotoGP event is usually kind of iffy, weather-wise, as you discovered, whilst the sportscar race tends to be scorching...

K-Dog throws up some links!

First off, big thanks to K-Dog for hosting some small video clips I took on Saturday night at Le Mans. I've edited some of my posts and added three videos, so go back and check them out if you feel like it.

Secondly, great write ups and great blog NiceBloke! I really enjoyed spending time reading through some of your material, and it's obvious you are a true fan - the sincerity is there.

Everyone else get ready for a crackin' race next weekend in Mugello at the GP, because it's going to be the Battle of the Titans! Rossi's home race is one of the best (if not the best) GP according to many, and I think it's a great chance for the Italian to shine. Last week, all three Le Mans podium finishers were former 250 World Champs, and I think the top three Italians in the series all have a chance to get on the top step next week.

In WSBK news, I was super stoked to see young Aussie Josh Brookes, recently added to the Bertocchi Kawasaki squad, doing well on his new bike. It's been a roller coaster of a time for him and I hope he'll succeed. We spent some time together when he was riding for Scuderia Ducati SC (Ducati NCR) in WSS, and now that he's moved up to WSBK I'm betting things are really going to start happening fast! I can't wait to see how Silverstone goes tomorrow!

Hey Liam, are you going to make it up for any part of the Isle of Man TT?

If not, you'll probably get much better TV coverage than we're going to get here in the states! :mad

I'm afraid the IOM TT is out of the cards this year, as I've just finalized my plans to go to Mugello for a week! While it's true I rarely watch TV, motorcycling racing is the exception, and I'm sure it's going to be telecast on Eurosport or some other station. Maybe when I'm recovering from the Italy trip, I'll be able to catch up with what's going down in that historic group of races. Now that some of the heavies have passed, I don't know how I feel about the rest of the field. Still, racing is racing, and it must move on. Here's a nice video clip I dug up from Arai which shows Yer Maun, Joey Dunlop, getting his shield changed during a pitstop. Maybe this was before tear-offs. It's also fun to see a young Nicky Hayden and KRJR.

Nicky, Junior, and Yer Maun!

My problem? I'm sick of watching the races on TV! Just Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Speaking of which, how about people start chiming in if they'd be able to make it to a Barf/MotoLiam party on Friday night in Monterey on race weekend? Should I start a thread in the Social Gatherings section?

^^YES! start a new thread, let's not muddy this one up w/party info. This, in my mind, is all about your adventure. Let's keep it that way.

Well, I'm off to try my luck in Italia!

Other great news? I'm all over Sweden, Baby!

I think it's a great idea to start your own blog. It'd be better organized than a thread. You could post news or happenings and we'd interact using the comments. Plus, you can host a lot more info like resume, pics, and vid without the forum limits. Another good place to host pics is flickr.com and vid youtube.com. Then you link or embed the html into the post. Easy as pie. Keep up the good work. And we'll see you in a couple weeks.

PS Did you ever get your computer backed up and cleaned?

Congrats on 100 pages Liam, and sneaking yourself into becoming a MotoGPod regular (I love your stories, keep them coming!)

Liam's a hoot. It almost doesn't seem like MotoGPod when we don't have him.

Now you should hear what we talk about when we aren't recording. :teeth
