ALEX HOFMANN REPLACES THE INJURED RIDER SETE GIBERNAU, IN THE TEAM PRAMAC D'ANTIN MOTOGP ARRIVES IVAN SILVA

For the eighth round of the 2006 MotoGP World Championship that in Assen, Holland, this weekend, ALEX HOFMANN, PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP rider, will replace SETE GIBERNAU on the Official DUCATI. The Spanish rider injured himself during the frightening accident of last Sunday in Spain and his return will depend on how fast his recover will be. As a replacement for ALEX HOFMANN, there will be the Spanish IVAN SILVA, already racing for the Team of LUIS D’ANTIN in the EXTREME category of the Spanish Championship, that also did a race of the 2006 World Championship in the Superstock 1000 class.

A big opportunity for ALEX HOFMANN, that will have a great occasion to race with the Official DUCATI (BRIDGESTONE tyres), but also for IVAN SILVA that will ride on the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP06 “Sat.” for the first time in the World Championship, assisted by the technical staff of the Team PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP.

ALEX HOFMANN: "I’m excited and so happy! Having the possibility to race on the Official DUCATI DESOMOSEDICI is an unbelievable opportunity and I will give my 100% to take advantage of it the most I can. I know this motorcycle well, I also know the evolution level of the BRIDGESTONE tyres that I developed until the Valencia GP of the 2005 Championship, with which I had a good feeling that I hope to get back from the first laps I will make in Assen. I’m very motivated and I want to make something good. In our world, these kind of agreement doesn’t happen very often and I want to thank everybody: DUCATI, PRAMAC, LUIS D’ANTIN and PAOLO CAMPINOTI, for thier confidence, that I hope to reciprocate giving the maximum. I also have a special thought for SETE GIBERNAU to whom I wish to get well at the soonest and in the best way possible ".

IVAN SILVA: "I didn’t expect it and it has really been a great surprise! Having the opportunity to make a race with the DUCATI DESMOSEDICI GP06 “Sat.” of the Team PRAMAC D’ANTIN MOTOGP is simply fantastic. Besides, I already know the Team very well, racing in the Extreme category of the Spanish Championship with them, and I’m really happy to get the chance to make this experience with them. I would like to thank everybody for having given me this opportunity, and I hope not to disappoint anybody!".

Down, but not out!

I don't have time for a long post so just the facts this time around.

I'm in Holland, and thanks to a small loan from Hiro Aoyama, I was able to make it. I had to pay for the flight change in person at the airport and without his help, I never would have made it. I didn't even have money for the bus to get there. Ironically, the flight was full of GP people, like the Aoyama brothers, some team personnel, and Checa was sitting in front of me.

My online accounts have been frozen, so I can't tell how bad the situation is, financially. I know that some of my credit cards were used, and worse, my debit card (which goes to my checking account), but that's about it. I had a ton of difficulty trying to explain what happened to the club people, as Barcelona is notorious for these types of things happenning. No Sympathy, and it made it hit home harder. I'm so upset with myself for letting this happen, and I'm just gutted. It took me a full day to clear my head and refocus on what I need to do to get back up on my feet. First of all, I came here to work in MotoGP. I have two race weeks before a couple days break, so work is what I'm going to do. Now that I have spoken in person to the team directors they understand what happened and know that it's just a shitty deal all around. I just hope some of my co-mechanics can understand that I wasn't bailing on them - but regardless, I'm here to work hard and make positive things happen. I know that they will see the value of my work ethic and commitment, and hopefully this makes the difference. Before I arrived in Holland and spoke with everyone, I was certain that missing the flight and "screwing up" was going to cost me this job. As it is, I still feel like it's tenous, but there's nothing I can do except do my best. Rather than sink into a depression about this, I am going to work through it and get things rolling. My cards have been cancelled, and in a couple weeks they'll be reissued and that will handle that. It will take longer to get another driver's license, but hey, I'm not driving much out here anyway, and I still have my international DL with me. My permanent MotoGP pass? I can get that replaced. My rent money? That, too, can be replaced, it's just the timing of the month that sucks, and my spanish banks inability to take transfers from US banks. La Caixa - Fie on you!

I want to give a big thanks and I wish I could show my appreciation more to the people who have paypal'd me to help me get through this. I can't get the money from paypal to my BOA bank account (it's frozen) and I also don't have a bank card to even access my account (if it were open). I know that it will help a lot towards recovering the rent money that I lost, so to everyone, thank you. I need to get to sleep, as I've been deprived lately, and sleep is what I need to fix my heart and get back on the horse. Those of you who had had something similar happen will know what I'm feeling and going through - it's more complicated being in a foreign land, and travelling so much of the time. Thinking back on the night, I remember being on a crowded dancefloor, and feeling bumped from behind. I thought it was just another drunk guy, but the lesson is, don't let anyone near you. Most of all, I am coming to the conclusion (thanks to an email I received), that I cannot let this get me down.

"Don't be idle.

Hustle!

Challenge yourself and your growth. Everyday.

Dream big.

Plan ahead.

Focus.

Stop yourself from thinking in sentences that begin with "I can't", stop rationalizing yourself out of things. You can! And you will do whatever you are brave enough to take on. You might fail, but it's always worth a shot.

Be grateful that you are loved, cared for, healthy, privileged, and doing what you have dreamt of for years.

Attempt to be humble.

And love. Purely, fearlessly."

I've come too far, done too much, to let something like this beat me. I never give up. I refuse. I will take more time to plan ahead, in case of another disaster.

I'm on borrowed internet time, so I'm signing off in a minute, but once again, thank you to everyone who has made a difference and helped me, and thank you for the happy thoughts. They have gone a great way towards helping me see things better. I'm sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone individually, but my time is short and I can't spare it at the moment.

Thank you.

Liam are you in a location that we can send you a American Express Money Order?

That's a great idea. Can someone be the liason so we can send $$$ to them and he/she in turn can send a money order to Liam???

Liam - You've inspired me to look beyond the daily 9 to 5 life and contemplate the jump into the unknown. thx. :)

Damn Liam...

Keep your head up and keep on smiling!
Give you a ring tomorrow when I arrive in Assen and we'll figure something out. It's only money, how inconvinient it may be.
More important is that your new colleagues understand the situation.

Shame we didn't meet up on Sunday night.
I was nearly pickpocketed - if thats correct english - as well.
Sitting on a terras in Barca with four Dutch girls, I had my trolley nearby.
Suddenly the bouncer of the cafe rushed up and grabbed a guy and made him very clear to stay far, far away.
Again a display of my weak spot, never put me nearby women... They distract me too much.
Knowing you a bit, that could never be the case.

I'll treat you on lame night out on Saturday in Amsterdam to forget about this sh#t. That is if you've got time and feel for it.

Passed you several times in paddock and on grid.

Hey Liam,

It was nice meeting you if only briefly. Wish I woulda brought my camera. We stopped by the paddock on race day but you were probably too busy to do anything. I was bushwacked after the race and we had to be up early Mon morning to make a flight. Oh well...

Bummer that you got your wallet stolen. We managed to get outta Dodge unscathed. I guess the lesson is to keep on you only what you need (id, a little cash, and a credit card). No reason to have everything on you at once.

I've got some pics and vid that I'll ul later today.

And not too be a hater, but I saw better brolly girls. In particular, the Konica Minolta chic and the dark-haired Repsol Honda girl.

No mate just never hard those expressions before, just like in London you might not know that a skin n'blister or frog and toad are sister and road.

So help me out.:)

Liam

Here’s the company I was thinking about maybe they could prevent this type of event becoming any more that an annoyance. Unfortunately your mobile career is likely to put you at risk of scum who are just after a fast buck and screw anyone else.

Quite the level of protection they can offer is anyone’s guess and maybe a Spanish bank account with a Rainey-day fund might prove more helpful but I feel the insurance idea is probably the best option as lets face it you are as likely to have this happen in any country or indeed continent.

From the experiences of yours that I have been following avidly the two bad instances ok 2 ½ if you include the speed cops. Have been far out-weighed by the good people that you have met and the Aoyama bros Hiro Aoyama in particular have been spectacular.

Don’t worry about the spannering things will settle down just be true to yourself smile and get on with it. Doe’s the team have a safe or secure area to place your toys after all I have heard of the unbelievable tales of spectators walking out with new fairings at Mugello.

Ain’t it nice that Saras avtar was actually Sara who’d of figure’d.

All the best mate.

PS tried to email you this but the address failed ?
