Lobster or Abalone

Lobster are more of a SoCal thing, Abalone are a North Coast thing. Ocean conditons were epic this weekend along the coast.

Lobsters for me! With the price of Maine Lobsters these days, how could you resist? Most asian grocery stores are selling for $6-8/lb. I've been eating lobsters at least once a week for the past month

It is a Lingcod. Think Fish and Chips and Fish Tacos. That one was about 20#. I shot it in Carmel, right off the beach in about 20' of water.

It is always fun to drag a monster like that across the beach in a fancy neighborhood

lobster's great, but it's peasant food compared to abalone fixed by someone who knows what they're doing.

The meat is a little sweeter. They are also called spiny lobster. The cold water ones are the ones you get from the north atlantic w/ the big claws.

You can eat abalone fresh right out of the shell while underwater.

Try eating a lobster underwater....
